I'm looking at a Remington 788 7mm-08 with a Leupold 4x scope. The blueing looks about 85% and the laminate on the stock has cracked and peeled off around the buttpad. SoI'd say the stock is at65-70%...

Thanks for the advice so far. With the new coating on the Cascades would they now surpass the Monarchs? Another option wouldbe to step up to maybe the Olympics??? I'm just trying real hard to keep...

hrmmm 45-70 now that is a serious hog gun. I've never done any rifle reloadingjust shotshells for ducks...rifle reloading looks to be a little more complicated.

I know that a pre-64 winchester applies to bolt actions but does this matter in a model 94? If so how can I tell? the one I'm looking at is stamped "winchester proof steel" serial number 3141580.

It will be for deer and small hogs(75 lbs or less). The area is mostly heavy woods with a firebreak that cuts one side of the place. I'd say the closest to his house would be 200 yards and farthest...

I had a 98 reg cab with the 360. Plenty of power but the autotrans are weak (3 replaced under warranty then sold). If you get one go with a manual IMO.
