RE: 98&99 dodge ram 1500 sport
i had a 99 dodge ram . and rvery place i sent it got stuck, i had to put three trans missions in her, and she only got 8-12 miles to the gallon. so i wouldnt go for one but that just my openion it did have a **** load of power(i had the 360 in mine) but it had a hard time putting it to the ground.. some people like em. but every one will tell you that you will go thrur about one transmission every year or two with a older one like them. another good point is they look tight as hell( thats the only reason i bought one not knowing all the down falls of them) good luck

Had a '96 sport, almost the same critter. Had a minor trans issue, rebuilt it while they were in there anyway, at 70k. Kept it til 130k miles with no other issues. It was the extended cab - sold it to get a crew cab. If it had more back seat room, I'd still be driving it.
360 ci, 4x4 got 14-17 mpg out of it, much better than my current 04 2500HD chevy crew.

I had a 98 with 318 5 spd. Truck had plenty of power and was very comfortable...but my big problem with it like most dodges was the gas mileage. 15 on a trip and 11 around here just didnt cut it. Loved the truck...couldnt afford the gas. Maintenance issues included a stuck fan clutch off the lot new, sliding window replaced and rear pinion bearing replaced and I drove it 50k. Most comfortable ride I ever had.

I've got a '99 4WD, with a 318 and a 5-speed. I'm afraid that I'll never drive a better truck. Absolutely reliable. Gas mileage, however, isn't the best. 16 or 17 mpg is about the best it'll do.
