well, I can tell you I have a vanguard in composite and blued barrel and it is chambered in 300 wby mag, my friend handloads for me and at 100 yard I can cover a 3 shot group with a dime.

I would buy the savage, I have one and it shoots great, I shoot 42 grains of imr 4759 with a 250 grain barnes expander. at 100 yard I can cut my bullet holes. Last deer season, I took an 8pt at 220...
