Right now im shooting 70gr of 777 and it has plenty of power and accuracy to down a deer at 100+ yards in my T/C encore but i did shoot 120gr when i tried it for the first time and learned my lesson...

A good place and easy place to start is to drop your powder charge....just because your gun can handle 150gr doesnt mean thats the best charge. I shoot a T/C Encore 209X50mag it can handle 150gr...

I would also agree firing the gun works best...but if i didnt make that last hunt before the end of the season i just take my primer cap off and wait for good weather to go the range and blow it...
