RE: Wabbits

I have hunted hares with a bow for 30+ years. They are one tough little animal to kill. I always use broadheads and have shot some where the heart was literaly cut in half yet they still keep on...

RE: static recurves

Thank you Arrowsmith. I forgot to mention that the twin is in looks only as it's made from hop hornbeam.

RE: static recurves

Thanks guys. Here it is again with it's twin. The twin is 59" n to n and draws 65# @ 28". The static recurves give the bows a very smooth draw. The twin is the bottom one and is a rocket launcher....

RE: static recurves

This is a sinew backed reflexed static recurve elm I finished a few weeks ago. It draws 58# @ 28". It launches a 500 grain arrow well over 200 yrds. It's fast and smooth....

RE: osage orange?

If the tree has large enough branches then take a branch. You would want something at least 3 to 4 inches in diameter and relatively free of any knots for a distance of at least 5 feet, 6 feet even...

RE: self nocks, reinforced nocks?

I use a Dremel with a 1/8 drill bit. I first cut a slot down the shaft to the depth I want then run the drill bit through at the base of the slot. I like a nock that snaps on the string so I remove...

RE: Toughest wood arrows?

My arrows cost me nothing but a bit of hard work. Some Black Ash a small hand plane and a bit of sandpaper is all I need. I can make a dozen shafts in an hour and they are tough straight shooting...

RE: How Far

John
200 yrds had been measured previously. The last 34 were paced out. I'm 6'2" and I was stretching my paces a bit so I'm pretty sure it is very close to the actual distance. The bow has a bit...

RE: How Far

Obviously Bill very few people here try out their bows for distance from the responces I've had. I've been hunting and target shooting traditional/primitive for 40+ years and to watch an arrow sail...

How Far

Was sort of curious. I finished a sinew backed Hophornbeam a few weeks ago. It's 60" long static recurve and pulls 64# @ 28". I shot it for distance using a 520 grain POC shaft and paced off 234...
