Guys, everytime this comes up on whatever forum , I post this same offer:
IF you have a Traditional longbow or recurve that shoots 200fps consistently through my Ohler chronograph, with a WEIGHED 10gr/lb of MEASURED draw weight, I'LL GIVE $1000 FOR IT!!
There's a big difference between a $99 dollar el cheapo chronograph and an ohler skyscreen. A big difference between what's written on a bow for poundage at 28" and an overdraw of 30", and a big difference between a guessed arrow weight and an actual 600 or so grains.........
Nobody has taken me up on my offer yet.<img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>
I ain't sayin' it ain't possible, but...

I've heard about tradbows that will shoot (10 gr per pound) arrows at or over 200 fps, but have never witnessed anything close. Has anyone here ever actually seen this in real life, or is it a wives tale??

Hey there Bill, nice to see ya here budd! How'd your season go? Mine? Well...don't ask. LOL! Hey, did you by chance make the W.Ky League meeting? I haven't seen a W.Ky shoot schedule yet, but can't wait to start busting some 3D! Gents, allow me to introduce my dear friend Bill. We go back aways...Bill here, aside from being a top-notch human being & a great friend (I haven't forgot that I still owe him big time BTW), is one of the best longbow shooters you're ever likely to meet, he took 5th at the IBO World Championship this past year & 1st at the IBO Southern Triple Crown & Ky St Chamionship if I'm not mistaken (among MANY other titles)!! Hey fellas, this boy is BAAAD!! Great to have you here to share your knowledge & experience Bill, drag up a log & sit a spell. Oh BTW, he shoots a CM Crusader too! Yeow-zaa!

Just my 2 cents worth but I don't care how fast my bow shoots as long as I can shoot accuratly out to 20 yards. I have never chonographed any of my bows but I do understand the curiosity of it.

<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote> Vic, Thanks for the fine words, but I'm not sure I'm worthy. What I was trying to post earlier was that, I have seen Sammy Blakemon shoot my 21ft. century longbow (70#@27"
221fps.He was shooting full length 2219's with 125 grain points on them.( He was also drawing it about 31".)I don't know if they where io grians per # or not,but it sure was fast. His recurve & ACC's shoots about 245/250 fps.
