In nature, dieing of old age means that you become slower than the predators. I don't think many deer die in their beds of a heart attack or a stroke.

RE: Going rabbit hunting for the first time

Thanks for the replies. I got 2 rabbits today!

I have to say, rabbit hunting is much more fun than deer hunting, and watching the dogs so their thing was a real joy for a long time beagle lover.

Scope for a rifled slug gun

I have a Mossberg 500 with a rifled barrel. It came with a crappy scope, and I want to upgrade. What would you guys suggest in the $200 range?

Driving a car to your hunt

How many hunters here drive a car (as opposed to a truck/van/etc) to hunt?

What do you do if you get a deer? Tie him to the roof?

I have seen more than a few pickup trucks with dead deer...

RE: A Little More Deer Burger!!!! jk lol. A LOT MORE!

It looks like the driver's seat is covered in blood too, so hopefully that means that the driver ducked when he saw it coming.

I was half-expecting to see a human shaped silhouette of a...

RE: 11/09/07 help for midwest

RE: Reducing kick on an 870

I highly recommend the Limbsaver. I have a Mossberg 500 that I really hated shooting before I got my limbsaver. It is a completely different gun now. It was the best $40 I could have spent,...

Red dot sight on a slug gun?

I have a Mossberg 500 with a rifled barrel for slugs and I was wondering what your opinions were on red dot sights? How do they compare to traditional sights?

RE: missouri

I probably won't be able to go out until Saturday the 21st, but my brother-in-law found a great spot. He saw a ton of turkeys last fall during deer season, so I assume we will see deer next month!
