Redding dies are generally superb. So are Forster Benchrest dies! But Lyman, RCBS, Dillon, Saeco, Lee and others make some tools for some jobs that are the only ones that are available for certain things.
Some say the Lee crimp dies are the ones to use. Lyman makes the "M" dies for expanding bottleneck case mouths for cast bullets. Lyman, NEI, LBT, Saeco (Redding),Rapine, and any number of custom makers produce great bullet moulds and bullet sizing equipment. Hornady dies and presses are also excellent, as are Forster dies and presses!
We were probably better off back in the days before there weren't so many excellent choices of gear for reloading! It was a lot easier to choose your tools then!! Now it's a major problem solving drill just to buy a set of dies!

My reloading bench is a combination of several manufactors but it works great for me.It is a combination of different products that I have gotten when I could afford through my 50 years of reloading, such as rcbs press, dies redding, lee rcbs, scales now have a pact elec.,allready went through 2 hornady elec.scales, first one didn't work, they sent me another one and it lasted a little over a year.hornady case length sizer and etc.
I weigh each and ever load I shoot in my rifles, have lots of time since I retired so don't need anything fancy,I remember when I first started with one of the lee hand jobs for a 30/30.Boy that was some years ago,I am still haveing as much fun now reloading as I did then.
I think today that any manufactor you choose makes good products, just depends on what you do with them
