I have a Remington 700 in 270 that I've had for over 30 years. Over that time I experimented with numerous loads - powder, bullets, primers, etc. But I always come back to my original load of 55 gr of IMR4350 and 130 Nosler Ballistic tip bullets and CCI200 primers. This rifle just loves this load and the Lee factory crimp die make it shoot it even better. But, it hates 140 and 150 gr bullets.
IMO the key to accuracy is consistancy. I FL resize all my cases (neck sizing would probably be better), Trim each time to ensure case mouths are squareand cases are the same length, weigh each powder chargeand factory crimp.
I can't imagine a 270 shooting 2" groups without something being wrong either with the load you are using or some other issue with your rifle. Also, I never had any luck with the SST bullets in my 270 or any of my 7mms.

..And you can't crimp all bullets unless they have
the cannler or crimping groove..
Not so. The Lee Factory Crimp Die is designed to workon bullets with or without a cannelure or crimp groove, and it works. It works very well on bullets without a cannelure.

Ditto. The lee die will crimp without a crimping grove or cannelure. The crimp may or may not help you. I would recommend getting a LNL BULLET COMPARATOR COMPLETE SET form hornady. I use this with a dummy round and carbon from an oil candel to find the max COL for each bullet type.I found that using this to find my max col with each bullet and then setting and measuring each loaded round helped a lot. I don’t know if it is my seating die or something else but I found differences in the seating depths of each easier round easier this way. This gives me a more consistent jump to the lands and tightened up my groups a bit.

As if you need another opinion....

Since it seems like a 50/50 split as to whether or not guys think it may help I'd look at trying other things first. In the end, it is one more variable to keep in-check and consistent...and being able to do THAT when you're reloading WILL better your accuracy.

I only load for my 22-250 right now (as far as rifles go) and don't use a crimp
But I put a borderline over-healthy crimp on my revolver loads. I did find the harsher the crimp the better consistency...but straight-walled revolvers and shouldered bolt actions are two different games!
