Nosler Accubond and Barnes Triple Shock bullets
I read in American Hunter magazine put out by NRA that Black Hills Gold produces good ammunition. Can anyone comment on the following BULLETS:
.243 95-grain Nosler partition (for use in .243 Win)
.25 caliber 100-grain Barnes Triple Shock (for use in .25-06)
.25 caliber 100-grain Nosler Ballistic Tip (for use in .25-06)
.30 caliber 180-grain Barnes Triple Shock (for use in .30-06)
.30 caliber 180-grain Nosler Accubond (for use in .30-06)
The primary use for the .243 and .25-06 would be deer and antelope. The .25-06 might be used some other time for sheep or mountain goat -- (Ya! like I'm ever going to draw a non-resident permit for one of those species! Right!). The primary use for the .30-06 would be elk, moose, black bear.

I've got both the bullets you mentioned for the .25-06. I haven't found a sweet load yet for the Accubonds, but have one load that was good enough to use on game. The bullets performed exceptionally. I have spent most of my time before and during deer season working with the Accubonds. I have just started trying to develop some loads with the Triple Shocks. I have had a little harder time getting acceptable accuracy out of the Triple Shocks with both my .25-06 and .223 than with some of the other bullets. Terminal performance has been great with the .223, exactly as advertised with 52.8 to 52.9 grains retained from a 53 gr. bullet. I would expect no less with the .25 caliber Triple Shocks. I would have no problem using Accubonds or Triple Shocks on deer or antelope, even elk out of the .25-06.
I normally handload all of my ammo, but a couple of times I've run short of handloads for the .223 and turned to Black Hills.

Any ideas on the velocities you are getting with that 25-06? I am just wondering. A pal of mine wants a smaller caliber rifle for whitetail and he just cant get a 243 mostly because I have one. I cant get a 280 for the same reason. EJ

In the .243, the 95 partition is going to give you 30/06 penetration at the expense of a smaller wound channel. For small and medium big game, I would use the 100 gr. Sierra Pro Hunter or the 100 gr. Speer Grand Slam - and go for the broadside rib shots.
In the .25-06, the 100 gr. Nolser ballistic tip is fairly explosive. It will give "lights out" kills on antelope along with lots of tissue damage. The Barnes is the opposite - tremendous penetration for a bullet of this weight without much tissue destruction. Don't usually kill realquickly on broadside rib shots, though. I like the 117 Sierra for deer and antelope; and the 110 Nosler Accubond in this caliber.
Both the Nosler Accubond and the Barnes in the .30 caliber are deep penetrating bullets capable of downing large game. Either should work well for elk, moose, and bear. Other good bullets would be the TBBC, Nosler Partition, and Swift Scirocco. All are overkill for deer, but will still work fine.
