RE: barnes triple shock x
My Savage 110 seems to like IMR 4350 with 53.5 grains of powder pushing the 130 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. 54.0 of the same powder pushing the 130 gr Barnes X Bullets. Start out there and see what happens.

rshunter-I wouldn't START at 54grs of IMR4350 as nagel suggested if I was you-may be safe, but you should still work up in your gun. BTW-I've always liked H4831 in the 270 and you can't go wrong with the TSX. Brett

RE: barnes triple shock x
oops. What I meant to say was start out with the IMR 4350 OR H4831 as Hunter5325 has said. I worked up those loads from a starting point of 51.0 grns of IMR 4350. I havent tried the H4831, but the IMR 4350 shoots very good in MY Savage 110.You neverknow what yourrifle will like. Try both of them, and see what shoots best. According to my Loadbooks USA for the .270 with a Barnes 130 gr XBT with IMR 4350 starting load is 51.0 Max loadis 55.0. So 53.5 is well within safe limits. With the same bullet using H4831 starting load is 56.0 Max is 60.0. Sorry for any confusion.

As far as I know, the new Barnes manual hasn't come out yet. Therefore, you can call Barnes and they will give you some loads over the phone. I believe they differ from original X bullets by 1.5-2 grains but don't quote me.......quote them .

H 4831 or H4831 sc has always been my go to powder for 270 in 130, 140 & 150 grain bullets. Imr 4350 has worked better for me in the lighter 100 grain bullets. Haven't loaded the new barnes bullets but if I did I would start with H4831 sc.

My 270win gets H4831 most of the time with 130 class bullets. If that fails IMR4350 and more recently RL19 are the next choices.
In regards to the 130gr TSX I worked upthis past spring for a buddies 270win and RL19 was the powder we settled on.
Email barnes, IME they have been great in sharing load data.

IMR4350 seems to work good in the 270. My question back to you is - Why do you want to load the TSX in the 270? Now just my opinion but unless you are going to use it for elk there really isn't a need for it. I've shot a ton of whitetail and a few mulies and antelope using 130 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips at ranges from literally point blank to 400+ yds. I tried the TSXs in my 270 just for kicks and they didn't shoot as well as the Noslers. But hey, its only my opinion and to each their own. If the TSXs shoot good out of you rifle, go for it. My load by the way is 55 gr of IMR4350 with the 130 Nosler. But a work of caution - this is a max load so proceed with caution.

I would start with IMR4350 or H4831sc for a bolt. And for 130gr, I would start out with 48gr of IMR4350. You can't use your typical nosler data for barnes bullets. Even though they ribbed this bullet, it still builds pressure quicker than say a ballistic tip.
