Well I tried a deer this weekend with mine (remington polymertipped...don't know if they were their own BT or nosler's)...50 yards...good shot, no shoulder (yes of course I'm assuming my own marksman ship). My buddy was down the field line about 100 yards. Said he watched the thing trot off into the sunset (o.k. actually it was about half mile across a bean field). Needless to say I'm NOT using my 22-250 until I have a load I KNOW is gonna leave me to blame for any lost animal. I feel bad enough for this one since I'm to blame regardless of shot placement.

I loaded some 53 gr. Barnes Triple Shocks for my .223 and got good results on a box ofsoil at about 100 yards. The box was about a foot cubed, and the bullets penetrated 8-10 inches. I weighed them back out at 52.8 gr., with all mushrooming as advertised. I'd still probably use them for neck shots only.

Ifthey're the ones with the little green tips, they are Hornady V-Max and they ARE NOT A DEER BULLET. They have a thin jacket and fragment into pieces when hitting something as thin as cardboard or even broomweeds.
