Hey guys,

good to see you guys survived the winter doldrums. That's a pretty shiny looking rig JD!

Sheddin' has been great up to the last week or so. the deer have all dropped now but we got some snow last week that buried pretty much everything. It warmed up a few days ago and things are finally starting to poke through again but it'll be a while yet before the fun really starts. I also have a week of holiday booked at the end of the month to go back to Sask and do some sheddin" in the old honey holes, if there's any left by then

Highlight of the year so far was finding 5 antlers within about 15 feet of each other a few weeks ago. I managed to get 4 into this one picture, the 5th was around the corner. Total stands at 55, but it won't be increasing until some of the white stuff goes away. Anybody else finding any?

a few other notable finds from weeks gone by

Saska

Great pictures man, I've been walking for 3 days now and haven't found a single antler. Been into bedding areas, followed every trail to n from the bush n nothing. Maybe their still wearing them down here,I thought with that cold snap they'd of dropped them too. Finaly get to try the new bow out tomorrow at the lanes.Pumped and the Sportsman show is on at the colisum this weekend, how can you tell spring is in the air?Man Sask u have a lot of mulies up in your area huh!

Find where they are feeding while yarded up and you'llusually find thesheds. Notice all the alfalfa in saskabush pictures.... Of course if your area is like it is around here such places probably have been pounded hard by shedders. Tonight I drove by one of the "feed lots" on my way home from work. Every square inch had foot prints, sled tracks, etc. There was a ton ofdeer feeding, not a set of horns still attached though. I suspect any sheds that were their have already been picked up...funny last year i was the only one tolay a foot on itand this year it's like it was on google maps or something[&:]

Best of luck.

JD, thats awesome. Critterhave been served...watch out "Doc" has got his mojo.

Saskabush, way to go and nice pics. You and your dog stay put now...we don't need any more trouble around these parts...LOL Best of luck and keep up the good work

Skeet, I have a funny feeling most of my old spots will be much the same (minus the sled tracks). I'm going with the idea that if they're good i'll stay,if they're picked over, I'll cover some new ground. Have truck, will travel. There's plenty of room if you have a free day Skeet, you're more than welcome to join us. The dog might even give up shotgun Worst case scenario is that I'll find a placeshoot gophers for a few days.

It's been a long few weeks waiting for the thaw but the last few days have been warm enough to get out and have a poke around some of the spots where I know there should be antlers waiting.
After a looong and unproductive walk on saturday, I stopped for one more quick stroll (if punching through deep wet snow can be considered a stroll) and as luck would have it managed two antlers.
the first is the match to a whitetail shed I found a few weeks ago. The funny and somewhat embarassing part is that i've glassed that stick about 4 times and always come to the conclusion that it was just too fat and blunt to be a shed. [&:] The fact that it was near the edge of the bush only convinced me further that it was nothing more than a branch that some how walked itself out into the field. Now of course it was a shed and it took a long hard sniffing session from the dog to convince me that it just might be. Even as I got closer I still wasn't convinced. Anyway, thanks to the hound I managed to match up a heavy 4x4 set. The mulie shed on the left was found a few hundred yards away on the same trail.

Using photobucket you need to copythe URLfrom the: Direct Link area

To post it here:
Click"Post Reply", once openedlook onthetoolbar(the area with B I U...etc. Last icon - picture symbol (looks like a mountain and sun), click it and then paste your photobucket URL. Repeat the process for additional photos and your done.

You need to make sure both sites are open, as you'll have to go between the two for copying and pasting.

Hope it helps
