Default A Stolen Handgun!

A few weeks ago , I received a letter from the gun control people in Marimitchi informing me that one of my handguns was not properly registered and that I had until the end of the year to do so or face a "penalty".

Now, all of my firearms are properly registered and I received 100% on all four of my "challenge tests" for the restricted and nonrestricted exams(you know what I am talking about).

The handgun that they say is not properly registered is a replica 1851 Navy, cap and ball, in 44ca. Now, here comes the fun part! This gun was stolen from my residence in 1984(yes 84!)during a B&E while I was out of town. All guns were recovered except for an 870 and that one handgun. All was reported to the authorities and all the right paperwork was done at the time.

So, what do you think? It has taken 18 years for the paperwork to catch up and it`s still not right? Is this our new gun control laws working or not?

.........and I STILL can`t get a hold of anybody either on the phone or Email to clear this mess up!

Default RE: A Stolen Handgun!

rbduck,

I'm not at all surprised, when this whole thing started there were records kept at all the firearm stores already detailing the sale of firearms for years. The government or who ever was in charge of maintaining records never processed this information. Willing to wager they are doing it now, cross-referencing with those firearms we are registering as owners.

This whole system stinks, they overlooked just how much work it is for a database of this sort to be created, let alone be accurate. Someone who knows firearms will make errors, most of these people are merely processing paperwork.

Anyway, hope you get things straightened out. Good Luck
