Hey guys,
Thinking of a 2007 saskatchewan deer hunt. Couple questions for you residents. Are all areas on a draw for deer tags? Are mule deer available to Canadian non residents? When are the draw deadlines for deer? And lastly can you tie a big one to a tree for me?
Seriously though, what is a realistic expectation of size of deer there. Here in Ontario if a buck cracks a true weighed 225 lbs he's a good one and body size impresses me almost as much as antler size.
Also what are the best dates to plan a a hunt?

Terry,
Big Game Draws and mule deer apply only to Saskatchewan Residents. No go here for you sorry. Only thing you can hunt as a canadian resident are over the counter whitetail and black bear - without an outfitter. The seasons vary based on where you want to hunt. In the forest areas the season is a min of 4 weeks (usually all of november for canadian residents rifle). Therest of the province is subject to a 1 week/6 day (monday thru sat - no sunday hunting here yet!)Canadian resdient rifle season - typically the last week of november. Muzzleloader and bow seasons vary if of interest consult the serm website foradditionalinfo http://www.se.gov.sk.ca/fishwild/huntingguide/.
As to size we don't weigh our animals as a general rule out west but250LBS areaon the hoofis a reasonable expectation fora whitetail buck in Sask. I have seen many that would tipthe 300 markon the hoof as well.
