Hi, im 15 years old and just took my hunter ed coarse last year. I have been looking forward to this year's deer hunting season and am just wondering what are some effective methods to find whitetails. I have an either sex deer tag and will be hunting within a couple hours of the Regina area in Saskatchewan. If anybody knows where there are a high population of whitetails in this area i would greatly appreciate it. I will be using a 30-30 and am a pretty good shot. I wont be hunting out of a treestand.
Thanks for the help

Dane, I went to University in Regina way back when. We use to hunt the Maclean Area and Fort Quapple for close spots, also hunted in the Southey area a little as well. All areas have a good pop. of deer and some dandy bucks as well. Our favorite place to hunt was the Rocanville area (2 hours east), it produced many a trophy and has lots of small bushs to push if you have the manpower(never went to this area without seeing lots of deer). However all these areas see some pretty heavy pressure from hunters(during the first week), so it is best to try and find an area that isn't walked and sit or push everything in sight.
Good luck.
Good luck.
