Default Big eyes

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for help from fellow hunters. My husband has been talking about getting a set of big eyes for awhile now. I have an idea I want to run by everyone to see if it's possible. We currently have a Swarovski spotting scope STX 65mm and I wanted to just get a matching one and put them together and have a bracket made but I don't know if it's possible to do and if they can get close enough to look through. Can anyone give me feedback on this please. I'm running out of time.
Thank you!

Why do you want to reinvent the wheel? There are plenty of good binoculars on the market, including the brand that your spotting scope is. I suspect Micky Mousing two spotting scopes together will result in spending a lot of money for a monstrosity that will be off balance and front heavy a pain to adjust and not good as binoculars or a spotting scope.

Doggy, I had the same thought.

Default Outofsight?

Kidoggy - I don't even know who they are. I was simply asking for some fellow hunter assistance but it seems I have come to the wrong forum. Thank you for your post.

Oldtimr - thank you for your post as well. I am not trying to reinvent the wheel it's something he had mentioned and thought it would be cool to have. I am very aware of the optics that are out there. I own the Swarovski 15x56. Thanks again

Here's a link to a pair like I think you're talking about. So apparently the concept is possible. I've never used such a device nor have I needed one. Maybe sheep hunting while scouting from miles away? Has your hubby said why he wants them and what type of hunting he would use them on?

Oldtimr - again as I said before thank you very much for your post. I appreciate your honesty I never said I didn't. I believe you could have made your point without making unnecessary comments or accusing me of being someone I am not from the get go. I noticed you are not from AZ and maybe you have never hunted here but it is way different than hunting back east. So something that you may think is ridiculous may not be for us who hunt AZ coues. This is probably the rudest forum I have ever been part of. Maybe that's the way you talk to people back east but that's not how we talk to people here. I appreciate your time and input on my post. Thanks again and have a great day.

Thank you Calhunter. I have seen those a buddy has some but I was wanting to make them out of the swaros because they have such a great glass. We use them for coues hunting. Those grey ghosts can be hard to spot if you don't have the right equipment. It was just an idea I had. Thank you for your input and assistance.

I've read (never hunted them) that many coues deer hunters use larger power binoculars (usually 15X) from a tripod to scan entire hills and ranges very carefully before trying to stalk an animal. It's definitely a different kind of hunting but seems to be very effective for many of the more successful outfitters and guides. What distances are you guys normally scouting?

Yes we do but they are so little and hard to find we were wanting to try something more powerful to get in those deep mountain cuts before we hike the million miles to get there. The 15x56's are what we both have now and they work great. Just looking for something a little more powerful. All the big bucks are way back there and hidden well! We usually hike a good mile to 2 miles in before we even sit down to glass. Then we are trying to look as far as we can to be as successful as possible. I will tell you this if you ever get the opportunity to hunt them go for it. They make you respect hunting even more than we already do. It's such a challenge but definitely worth it if you get the pay off!
