Does anyone make any good scopes with built in range finders? I like the idea of having a range finder but it seems like I will like it a lot more if it's built into the scope. Any I should look at? I found a BSA but have heard they aren't very good. I have a budget of around $250 or so. I have a Leupold VX-1 now that I plan to sell to help buy it so I'd like something atleast as good as that scope wise. That shouldn't be too hard to do though as it doesn't seem like such a quality scope.

To get a scope with a true range finder built into it your going to spend some money whatever you look at. Meaning one that reads out the range not estimate distance between retical cross hairs or circles.I personally have been looking at the Burris 4x12x42mm range finder scope. Scope has the Ballistic Plex or Ballistic Mil-Dot retical. Price range is between $700.00 to $900.00. But if you spend good money for a scope and range finder you will be around that range.

That may be what I do. That or sell the Leupold and keep my Tasco even though not many people on here seem to like them so far I actually like it better than the Leupold and it's held zero so far but then again this is the only hunting season I've had it.
I might put the Leupold back on though and just get a range finder. I right now have a buddys Nikon 440 that he let me borrow and I like it a lot so far. I just thought it would be cool to have it in the scope so I didn't have to carry two things around but it seems like that might be the way to go.

Most of the scopes that say they range simply use a type of reticle that lets you estimate distance depending on the size of the animal and the power setting of the scope. You can honestly do it with any plex type reticle if you know the distances between the stadia at certain ranges, powers and what the average size of your game is at the same distances and powers.
A Mil dot works best in my opinion.
As far as scopes that have actual laser rangefinders built into them, there are not many and the are EXPENSIVE! Mostly a tactical type thing. And if you spent the same money on a regular scope you could probably get a better scope.
A good quality scope and a decent rangefinder would be better in my opinion unless you had thousands to spend on a military grade scope. Then it would still most likely be big and bulky.
Or sometimes if you look around you can get a package deal where they are selling a scope with a rangfinder. I see it a lot with scope/binoculars and scope/spotting scopes but every now and then I see a rangfinder combo model. And a good gun store might cut you a deal if you buy both at the same time.

Do you mean a TDS type system(Swaro,Kahles) or Shepherd or do you mean a built in laser rangefinder scope? I can speak about the TDS and tell you it works as advertised, have never messed with the Shepherd and would give up rifle shooting if all I could use is one of those laser sighted monstrosities on it that Zeiss,Burris and Bushnell produce.
