I realize that the powers that be in IBO will never be able to satisfy everyone of it's members on a world shoot location. I think that with gas prices headed for the high $2.00 per gallon mark and no end in sight that now is a good time to try and pcik as central a location as possible. Snowshoe is a great place to shoot with out a doubt. It does however offer several negative aspects as well. The terrain is very demanding for women and older shooters. 3 of the 4 people in my group fell while climbing around rocks. all but one of the ladies in my wifes group fell as well. I heard several senior class shooters saying that they had a really tough time on the slopes as well. Also it is over 45 miles to the nearest town of any size to do anything with the family. There is only so many times that you can ride the ski lift and the few other things to do at Snowshoe. My hat is off to the folks in the offices at IBO as it is hard to pick a location that can accomodate the number of shooters that the world brings. Good luck with picking a new location. Some will love it, some will hate it, and some won't care one way or the other.

I didn't say anything about not going to Snowshoe in 05 if I don't like the location for 06. I've only missed one world since 1992 and that was the 1st year in Clymer. I was just as,I said putting in my two cents. Apparently it's not wanted, and sarcasm is the flavor of the day. If I misunderstood the reply, then I apologize.

Uncle Paul, maybe I wrote my post wrong. I agree with your first post about shooters from the Midwest and also from the southeast where I am from. It takes us about 14 1/2 hours to get to Snowshoe from Alabama as well. I like you, think that a more central location would be good for all IBO shooters. With shooters from all over the United States it would make a lot of sense to pick as central a location as possible to help everyone. No matter where the location though there will be somebody that will have something to say about it. Where can the IBO hold the worlds that is in a central location for as many of the IBO members as possible? That location would need to have a lot of lodging and places to eat. People that would be willing to do all of the hard work it takes to put on a shoot of this magnitude. Lastly a location that could hold the amount of shooters on the many ranges that would be needed for the worlds. I am sure there are many possibilities out there we just need to find them and pass them along to the right people. Again I am glad that I do not have this job to do as it would be a very hard chore indeed.

Geographically central, WV is a good options, takes 14+ hours to get there from Alabama according to last reply, takes me 13+ to get there from NH, that's pretty equal. Moving West makes it longer for the eastern half of the shooters where the IBO and most shooters are located. NABH tour use to go more west, but didn't draw the shooters.
I've been to both Clymer and WV, clymer was closer at around 8-9 hours, but I strongly prefer Snowshoe due to once you're there, you're there. At Clymer we had to stay close to 45 minutes away due to not much on site housing. Everything you need is at Snowshoe, plus options for bringing the family. Now if they could only fix the sporadic weather!
It takes much more than a location, someone has to actually setup, run and cleanup the shoot, IBO folks don't do that, a host club does a ton of the work.

Sorry Hoytshooter it wasn't your reply it was a reply from Fasstfletch. I agree with everything you've said. I've been involved with my local club at all levels and know what it takes to put on a good shoot.
I don't envy the IBO at all on getting new locations for the World, I know there is a lot that goes into it.
As long as I'm wishing, I would like to see the National triple crown moved to new locations as well. The ones we shoot now have always been good shoots, but it's always nice to shoot in new locations. I believe that the scores also reflect just how many times we've shot those same shoots. Now after saying that I will still shoot at all three legs again this year and as long as there at those locations I will attend them. I will also attend the World at Snowshoe again this year.

Uncle Paul,
There was nothing personal intended by my reply to anyone but Ken and I was poking fun.
I don't think that anyone can release any information about the 2006 shoot until the appropiate time. Ken may know what, where, when and why but I think that he will only release this information at the appropiate time to everyone. I did not direct my comments at anyone but was only making fun.
Good luck and good shooting.

Hey All! I have an idea for the location of Worlds for 2006..how about Nemacolin Woodlands in Farmington, PA??? I work at Woodlands World..their outdoor store. I have been trying to get them to hold an IBO shoot here for 2 years now. No one here realizes just how big an IBO shoot is. My brother and I used to travel to IBO shoots all summer, so I have some experience. If anyone thinks they might want to give Nemacolin a try..let me know and I will do all in my power to help make things happen!!!! 724-329-6459
