SENIOR HUNTER CLASS & BOD MEETING
#11
I'll wager the big majority of IBO members don't frequent this forum. The first page is nearly a month old; not much going on here. A better way to get a feel for the class may be to poll shooters at registration. I find it hard to believe there was more interest, among IBO membership, in the Money HC.

Gentlemen,
I don't think that there is any worth while information that has been presented to justify making or giving up on an additional class for Senior hunter class. This is a group of shooters who in most cases have a history. I think there is definite growth in the senior classes and there are other seniors who shoot in other classes that we have not heard from yet. Many of the seniors are from an era that the inner net was not a skill that they had a chance to develope. At this stage of their archery career the important thing is to be able to shoot and take part in the game with some scores that let them maintain some diginity and respect. Each year there are shooters that drop out and more that reach the senior classes. If it becomes tougher each year to compete with younger people than maybe the only way that we can justify a new class is to count the people that we loose because they are not the people that complain or want to be asking for special favors.
In the senior classes which include PSR, MSR, MCBH the IBO had 1032 shooters that participated in the 8 IBO shoots. This is a small number if you divide it by 8 shoots that made up the shooting year in 2004. The numbers deserve some studying to see where the real interest is and where their may be some changes needed in the whole class system.
A few people trying to have some input on the forum is not the answer unless they have some positive statistics and what they can do at home may be much more helpful in making changes. Of the comments made on the hunter class and changes that should be made there were only 57 people that made the commment even though they had approximately 150 threads. The number for the senior class were from 23 people and a lot less threads. I don't think that these figures are the only things that were used to make any decesions. The BOD is a small group who make decisions base on the input that they get from State Reps and other members. The first thing I would say is have the members been represented when they Reps report there findings or are they giving their personal opinions. I don't know the answer to this question and I can only speak for the area that I live and I would say that this area needs to have better representation. Without this input from the Reps How can the BOD make the proper decisions and adjustments.
The senior is a constantly changing class and is different in many ways. I think that they are more the silent majority than the demanding minority.
I am a senior member with many years in archery and my greatest wish is to see Archery continue to grow and keep the majority enjoying shooting and winning when possible. If high scores are the only thing that determines the winners what are the rest of the people but people that love the game.
