I shot a good amount of 3-d tournaments during the summer. I always liked the "Tough Man Competition", were they'd give you hard shots through trees, with openings only inches wide. They were fun. We could only use one arrow and had ten targets to shoot, and the best score won the pot of money. When I still had alluminm arrows, I hit a tree the first shot, bent it really bad. I just pushed it on a tree, and ended up missing a couple targets because it shot way off, but then I learned to aim a foot to the right and it would hit good. Luckily I was able to finish the competition, even though I didn't win anything. Do you guys have these competitions?

I've been in one and they are fun, and no Ken, none of the national IBO shoots would qualify, totally different kind of HARD shots :-)
Ironman gets 1 arrow shoot as long as you can, under trees, off knees, no clear line of sight to the target if you stand upright at the stake. Fun, but not what a top 3D tournament is like, tough mans are more of a novalty.

We used to call them "smoker"rounds-if you made it thru with your 1 arrow-you were smokin'........also some targets would have a metal plate covering all but the 10 ring-Ouch!!! They were fun.

The Cecil Bowhunters Club in Northeast,MD has one every year except it's called the Tough Person. This years is July 21. 30 targets one arrow BUT you can take an extra arrow for 5 bucks, if upon return you have both arrows undamaged you get the 5 back.No 5s it's 8,10,12 or a tree. Got a few pics from last year when I lost my first arrow on about target 14 think I broke my second at 16.I went back to look for my lost arrow some more well I found a few arrows but not mine. But I started back thru the coarse with three assorted bent arrows, lost first and second arrows on the first two targets i shot at the was this long fat heavy hunting arow that was only bent at the tip out past my rest.It was so heavy that the rest just layed down when I put the arrow on it and as i drew the rest would rise up with less weight on it misse d few more but kept finding the arrow and eventualy worked out about where the sites had to be set and made it thru the coarse and got plenty of laughs along the way.
