Does anybody know if the IBO is looking for a new place to hold worlds or not. There is a small town with a nice University that would be very interested. This town has an exit off I-80 and about every motel chain and eating place is there along with Mall and all. The University is right there to and has bunches of housing laid out in a village. Very nice housing units. Our tax dollars paid for them. The whole area is surrounded by woods and all ranges could be laid out behind the motel area and college housing complex. All shoot offs and vendors could be located at the University's Football, baseball, track, soccer complex with lots of parking. Very nice large complex. Everything could be held in a 1 square mile area. The University and Chamber of Commerece is very interested. I don't think anybody would be to dissappointed. Who do they need to contact if they are looking ??? What do you guys and gals think of this idea.

i think the process is if someone is interesting in hosting the world shoot, they submit bids to the ibo, then the process starts to see if the soliciter is capable of hosting the world shoot. the potential host should contact the ibo with their intent, and be ready to do a lot of work to pull it off. in the past the bar has been set very high by the ibo and the past host, most recently snowshoe mountain. anything less would be a step backward.

My vote is for Snowshoe. I dont think the IBO will find a place that you can park your car when you get their and not have to get in it untill you leave. My kids love it they are to young to compete but they can play in the village all day and then go to the pool with me when I get done shooting. After that we can watch movies in the village. You can do a lot more than that and never have to get in your car. Snowshoe is a great place and will be hard to match.

what is there for the kids while the adults are shooting
anyway:
-mini-golf
- pool(s)
- lake with rental boats and beach
- ski lift rides
- mountain biking
- horse back riding
- bowhunter defense ranges (assuming they shoot, also these are VERY empty once the "real" tournament starts)
- euro-bungy
- skate board park/bike-cross park
In the evening toss in movies, animal shows etc.

The area I was referring to is where a lot of people go on vacation to. There is 2 horse riding ranches right up the road. These are first class rides through some nice area. There is a State Park near bye and there are 2 big fun parks with slides ,race cars, bumper boats and the works. There are several conoe rental's on the River there. Swimming at the pools at the motels, at the University pool for the people staying there and the town has a very nice pool.
Very nice downtown shopping area. The one thing that really sticks out is that there is a possibility that a 4 night stay at the University would cost you what you pay for 1 night at Snowshoe. If you want to spend more money then theres the Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn, Super 8 and many others. Several nice eating places with normal prices. I find eating at Snowshoe out of my budget. Snowshoe is really nice but all my friends aren't going anymore because things down there are a little pricey any more. This is just a suggestion if they are looking for another place that is really pretty nice and affordable for a lot more shooters.

IBO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! Snowshoe is a nice place to stay with lots of activities to do besides archery and the climate is cool too. I love the "convenience factor" at Snowshoe. Park the truck all week!!! It is also very close to home.
I do however understand that the IBO probably needs to change the location for various reasons. The only request that I have is that they make it at a place that provides all the activities and convenience factors of Snowshoe. Myson will most likely be attending the worlds next year shooting in FBHand my wife will not have a good time on the two days thatIhave to shoot if there isn't anything close for them to do. The IBO needs to take in consideration when they choose a new place alot of people like to bring thier families to the World Championships for a small vacation and it will not be very fun driving all over to get to the shoot and to any "fun activities" in one vehicle. The IBO should also consider theclimate factors.August is a very hot month in several places and cooler in others. While we were at Snowshoe this year it was 95+ in most places and it was 84 the first day and mid 70's the second. I am not saying the World Championships needs to be in Snowshoe every year, but the IBO needs to heavily consider keeping the quality at least equal and not downgrade.
Good Luck.

I guess I'm a little selfish, because I would like to see it moved. I've only missed one World since 1992, and they were all good places to shoot. I think that there's probably a lot of other really nice places to shoot that we haven't been to yet. I also would like for the National Triple Crown to be moved to other locations. It probably won't happen, so it would be nice then that the clubs that host them would at least cut new courses for us to shoot. Or shoot the old ones backwards, anything new.
Our numbers are droping and we need to find ways to bring them back up. We've had a lot of good turn outs over the years and everyone didn't get to stay at the same place and we survived, and still had a good time. I think we need some new places to shoot to spark some interest back into the sport. More interest means more people and more people means more money for the IBO to help fight and keep our hunting rights.
What ever is decided though I will keep going where ever they tell us. My first Triple Crown shoot was1989 inAurora Illinois before they moved it to Bedford Indiana, so I think I'm in it for the long hall.

Uncle Paul, Iam glad thatIam not the only one who has noticed less shooters and less venders at these shoots. But in my opinion the shoot locations have very little to do with the drop in attendance. I think it would be a goodidea for the IBO to survey its membersseewhat some of their concerns are. If the majority of the members had similar issues these issues could be addressed and maybe the attendance would increase. But what do I know? Iam just a dumb hillbilly.
