I've been out nearly every day for the last 2-3 weeks -- all dayer's most of this week. The rut is ON big time! Every day I've seen bucks following, chasing and grunting behind does. I've had days when I've seen more bucks than does and at all hours. The problem is, most were small dinks. I've seen 3-4 big bucks -- the most recent one on Monday. I turned to see what made the sound and saw a monster at 25-30 yards looking right through me! I finally killed a smaller buck on Tuesday evening at 3:45pm and a buddy of mine killed a HUGE 12 point following a doe. He used a crossbow at under 10 yards!

Wow Dave, your post surprised me. I hunted this morning and saw no rutting activity at all, other than some rubs. I'm not convinced that they're rutting in Western MD.
Sure sounds like you've had an exciting couple of weeks thought! Congrats on the buck and good luck getting one of those bruisers!

went out yesterday morning and saw a buck running a doe pretty hard tryed to call but he would not stop for anything going next week in the afternoon almost every day should be intense then GOOD LUCK.

I WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK TODAY ONE MD RT 198 AND I SAW A MY BUDDY SPOTED A NICE BUCK WHEN WE WERE RIDING BY I TURNED AROUND AND PULLED IN A DRIVEWAY 20 YARDS FROM THIS NICE 8 POINT HE WAS ON A DOE AND SHE CROSSED THE STREET 10 FEET FROM MY TRUCK HE WOULD NOT CROSS THE ROAD THEN OUT OF NO WERE A MONSTER 8 POINT WALKS DOWN THE SAME TRAIL THE 8 POINT AND THE DOE WERE ON WITH HIS NOSE ON THE GROUND WHEN HE SPOTED THE BUCK HE DID A WEIRD HEAD JERK HIS EARS WENT STRAIGHT BACK AND HE WALKED STIFF LEG UNTIL 5 FEET FROM THE BUCK THEN CRASH IT WAS ON A NICE SHOVE MATCH FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS THEN ANOTHER BUCK CHARGED IN AND THEY ALL RAN INTO THE THICKETS ,,, ALL OF THIS HAPEND LESS THEN 10 YARDS OF THE ROAD AND 20 YARDS FROM MY RUNNING TRUCK , THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I EVER SAW ANYTHING LIKE IT WOW WHAT A RUSH
