My brother and I stalked a real nice 10 point once that way. Problem was it was during a scouting trip a week before the season. We were in the woods looking around and I happened to look out in the field and there he was feeding. We got right to the edge and waited. About a half hour later he fed within 20 feet of us. The wind was perfect. We went back during the season but never saw him again. What a rush!

The hardest part is drawing the bow when you're on the ground. Up in a tree, you have a little more room for error. Also - if you have more than one deer in the field, you have a good chance of getting busted. I've been busted by a deer I was not after many times. That stupid snort screws everything up
. I'm posting pictures tonight.

I'll contact you next time I'm up, PAJack. I've seen about 6 different bucks up there (besides this one) so far this year. My dad saw two 8-points that would go an easy 130" a few weeks ago. Last year we had a 10 pointer on top of the mountain with a good 24" spread. The word is that nobody got him. Do you think there is enough hunting pressure up there that ARs make a huge difference? Between Ganoga Lake Association, Frost Hollow, Painter Den and Ricketts Glen, the deer get a lot of protection. Plus, SGL 13 is so immense that it could never be over utilized. I think we've been having bucks die of old age on that mountain all along. The only problem is finding them. It's a vast area.
