I live in a zone that you can get a doe permit, but arent gaurenteed to get one. Does it matter when you buy your license? like if i wait until right before season, do i have less chance of getting one, because they have given so many out already?
The reason i ask is because i dont have the money right now, being the "poor college kid". and i dont get paid until the end of this month

thats what i thought
Ill be getting it before season starts, so the second round isnt that important. Last year my father got one in the second round without applying, they just mailed it to him one day.
after nov 1 the unissued doe tags go on a first come first servee basis

Last year, I bought my license the second day they went on sale. I was denied the second doe tag even though I had a 50% chance of getting one. In early November I got that second permit in the mail. It is a lottery system, but it really depends on how many licenses are requesting a doe permit for a giving area. If they do not get enough hunters requesting an area, then they send them to the hunters they denied.
