Do I apply for a permit...then...if accepted...take the bear course? Or do I have to take the couse first?

The NJ bear hunt complicated this year. Zone #6 is promising.

Apply for the permit with the permit application (not in stores yet, Campbell is holding them back). On the permit there will be course dates to choose from.

Permit first...then course... I called about the permits and was told Sept 1 the apps will be out....

Thanks. Sept.11th deer permits for non-lottery zones are available. I am going to the Walmart in the ITC off 206.

What we really need is a spring bear hunt.

Here in NJ we are lucky to even have a bear hunt. So the spring hunt is fully out of reach. I would rather have the hunt take place during the Fall and permit archery seasons. If a certain amout of bears are harvested, then stop the bear hunt, if a hunter takes his limit of deer then you stop hunting for deer & bear. Most likey less bears would be harvested during this time then during the shotgun season.
