the 2003 hunting season in NY was the safest in states history ever!!!!
There was only one fatality, 30 accidents(most accidents were from people not being secure in a treestand and falling), and no hunters hurting others. It was all self inflicted......

I'd like to believe its because more hunters were safety conscious, and took wiser shots. But I'm sure the smaller deer harvest played a good part in it. Either way its good to hear. Personally(and I'll probably take some heat for this) I'd like to see a 3 shot plug rule for shotguns in the southern tier.

I haven't the foggiest idea what is up with that report, but if there were 2 fatalities within 20 miles of me, I wonder how many in the whole state.

Above is the DEC press release - it says 2 fatalities - Maybe they were both in NYBH's hometown?

If that's true I'm moving!!! I am positive of the 2 people that died here. I find it hard to believe they were the only ones in the state.
