Question on PGC policy on roadkill
#11
If they' re selling the antlers, they should be paying you for them. Why don' t they charge people to keep the meat? Same thing with a mistake kill. The hunter can keep the meat but the game commission keeps the antlers. That puts a false sense of what' s more important from a deer. You would think the game commission could feed the hungry with the meat and care less about the rack.

I think the main reason the game comission does it is to prevent people from shooting a monster buck in doe season or swerving to hit a deer just because it' s a 160 class 12 point. If they let you keep the antlers and just pay a 25$ fine then any joe blow driving down the road would try to hit those monster bucks knowing they could keep the antlers. Same goes for shooting a monster in doe season. They' ll call it in, pay the fine, and keep that P&Y buck you have been stalking all archery season. I think it' s just another saftey measure

If I' m willing to total my car to kill a buck on the road, I think I' m also willing to cough up the $10 a point. How do you pay them. Can you use a credit card and get a receipt or does the warden put the cash in his pocket???

I see what you are saying about totaling your car but alot of people don' t even put a dent in theirs when they hit a deer. I know alot of people around my camp that drive old beat up trucks and mount a steel plate to the front. This way they can hit all the deer they want and don' t have to worry about a thing. And it really ticks me off because they set up these vehicles just so they can hit a deer if they see it. I really get pissed when I see a guy hit a nice deer as I' m walking out of the woods from a full day of hunting and seeing nothing.

Barnes We have guys around here that have old pickup trucks with welded special supported front ends. The have rebar units they put on the bumpers , like spikes just for running deer over. They just weld theses things up in there garage while drinking up a case of bud.

AKA, First the family I' m talking about has a vehicle inspection station. which don' t matter, Now the vehicles have a towing reciever on the front of the truck. Just like hooking up your trailer to the back of the vehicle the unit simple plugs into the reciever and they can put it on and off by sliding it in and out with a simple clevis pin operation. Just like them deer xcarry carts you see on the back of the suv' s.
