Yeah, but you can say that about any state. I've been trying to pull a moose tag in NH for 8 years without success. I've been trying to pull a resident moose tag in CO for 13 years. Also with no luck. But that doesn't negate the fact that they have a lot of moose in Maine. And you're never gonna pull a permit if you don't apply.
I know the deer are few and far between. The same goes for NH and VT but the deer are big bodied. Someday I'm going to try to get up there during the season. Might not be successful, but I still have to try.

I would say most of what you say is true Barnes,, But, in reality you have a getter chance to draw a tag than I do.. Naturaly it depends on how many out of state people apply for a drawing here. But, still you can purchase more chances if you wish.. We can only get earned points as a resident.
Our whitetails can be huge that is for sure.. But, the down fall is exactly what you have stated already.. Low deer numbers..
I have to agree again on the black bear hunting as well. This past year they made it legal to take 2 bears. 1 of which must be taken by hunting and another if you wish by the use of a cable trap.. Any one wanting to take the bears you can take all you want IMO.. I do not hunt for bears as I do not like the flavor of them..
We also have had an average of a foot and a half of snow. This followed by 2 days later by Ice Storms that have lasted 4 and1/2 days. I am not sure what kind of impact that is going to be on our deer herd as of yet..

Flags you might want to think it over.. We are a union state and we are mostly democratic.. LOL

Ah Just funning with you..
Merry Christmas to you and everyone else as well!!!
I also have a nice picture of 2 bulls found by deer hunters. As well as a great video of a young fella that has a terrible disease being taken out moose hunting in the big game forum. A true hunt of a life time!!

First what are you hunting for?
Right now, I won't leave Southeastern Mass for deer. It's loaded here, but you need know how to hunt pressured deer in urban areas. Your not going to kill lots of huge racked bucks, but we have good body sized deer. You probably won't find any land to lease either.
Why not go to Ohio?

I'm from MD and I will say PENNSYLVANIA IS BY FAR THE BEST STATE TO HUNT OR BE A HUNTER IN HANDS DOWN. Where to start a ton of public ground to hunt. But people aren't pricks most will let you hunt private if you ask. Game commison actually cares about the state and not just writein tickets. The youth mentorship program is such a good thing they are doing for the youth of today. The stocking of game birds is unbelievably nice of them. That's pa lic money at work.
In MD we have very little public land very high lic fees and dnr does NOTHING to better the habitat for any wildlife. I am a MD resident but only because of family being here wouldn't be for that I'd be in pa.
PA is Awesome state and kuddos to all those involved.

PA may be a great state to hunt deer in if you know someone with private land. State Game lands that are near the NY, NJ borders seem barren of deer. I haven't seen a deer on state game lands in 4 years. Not to mention hearing only 2-6 shots all day.
