This season so far

BT,
Well I had been noticing discrepancies across threads. I kept seeing people complain about hunting being worthless or rating it as a waste of time in some polls, yet elsewhere they let it slip that they got their buck, decided to pass on legal bucks, had plenty of opportunities for bagging does, etc. This thread was one where suddenly a lot of people started giving frank descriptions of how their season went. Like I said, most of the time it sounded good to me and what people saw and got in often sounded about like what I generally see in Illinois or in this part of Ohio where I live. But, I guess it seems bad if you are sold on the idea that everywhere outside Pennsylvania is a giant Pike County Illinois where everyone bags a trophy during the first hour of the season every season. But like I said, I am starting to deal with that in Illinois where you got people with a freezer full of meat and a big buck at the taxiderist, but are complaning about deer hunting going downhill. Reading the posts here help prepare me for the temper tantrums I am gonna hear in Illinois when some of the herd reduction measures really start kicking in.

[QUOTE]While it's true that we have less deer now, that was as promised ( or warned about depending on how you viewed it at the time). [/QUOTE
Wrong again!! We were promised more and larger buck than ever before. We were also promised increased breeding rates and higher recruitment and none of that happened.

Yeah, I wish you luck with that bud. But I think it wouldve happened sooner or later anyway with the failed deer plan in place. Since the land isnt completely off limits, Sooner or later the maleffects of the failed program take over. Spreads like a cancer. Seen it ruin quite a few previously good hunting properties. The pgc headquarters at elmerton is like a black hole that sucks all the deer in. Cant escape it till you cross the state borders.

Yep. That was the story. Last I checked when "dr. Alt" donned his bullet proof vest and held up the big antlers he wasnt saying our reproductive rates werent gonna improve, our hunter numbers were gonna decline, and hunter satisfaction would be at an all time low. lol.
Wrong again!! We were promised more and larger buck than ever before."

Some of you might want to go back and edit your posts then, because the deer kills admitted in this thread arent looking that dis-satisying.

Or perhaps you'd prefer this'n.

You can either want a clear big picture of hunter "satisfaction" which is quite evident given all the ridiculously obvious (deer wars, alt fearing for life, fee increase denial, lawsuit, legislator outrage, every poll being against, etc. etc. etc.)or you can pick tiny bits where-ever and when ever you can find a tiny bit to back your position. I think its pretty clear which you are attempting to do. Unfortunately that about like trying to win world war II alone, armed with a butterknife.
Sorry, but my sticking an arrow through a bucks lungs despite pgcs failed program doesnt throw me or anyone else automatically into the "i love pgc, the plan is great, nothing else matters" group.

Nope, your wrong if you say we weren't promised less deer. The plan originally called for a 5% reduction in the herd every year for 10 years. That's a 50% reduction.

Cornie,
The only thing I have done here is point out the discrepancy between how lots of folks characterize deer hunting in PA versus what they end up reporting as success for the season. It seems that when it suits your needs you claim that the HNI folks here are representative of PA hunters, then at other times you back away from that. The fact that you have to go into such shrill denunciations and start to fallback on your whole conspiracy paranoia suggests that my comments hit home.
You really don't have to worry about folks like me, even if I had an agenda or was part of a conspiracy. You do a perfectly good job of shooting yourself in the foot in terms of damaging your own credibility (and amusing some of us) with some of the stuff you come up with here, but you arent quite bright enough to realize it.
Promise me you will never change

But RSB, who is a WCO with the PGC, assured us over and over again that increased recruitment and decreased predation would result in no decrease in harvests.
