Since, as Bluebird and others have pointed out, we cant do an exact count on the deer herd, we have to rely on trends and averages. Trends and averages also are necessary for a clear picture because the bulk of the doe harvest takes place within a relatively short time window. Weather variations from year to year and other factors make using trends and averages even more important for long term accuracy. Over the six years he pointed out above, the tags/deer ratio works out to 3.82 tags/deer. Amazingly close to the most recent ratio of 3.85

In order to establish trends and averages the PGC has to know how many deer we have and they repeatedly have stated they don't know how many deer there might be. To suggest that 6 year averages of the antlerless success rate is meaningful is asinine, when it is clear that success rate is determined by the PS DD and te number of tags that are allocated.

When are you going to explain how the PGC determines the number of tags to be allocated when they don' know how many deer we have and don't have a specific goal DD?

I did not post six year averages , you did. I posted year to year data that clearly shows that as the herd was reduced the number of tags/deer harvested increased. Therefore, unless the PGC knew how many deer we had , they had no way of determining how many tags should be issued to produce the desired harvest.

BTW, you still haven't answered our question!!!!

Once again, the two worst WMU's to hunt deer (according to some) are the fastest sellers. close to 25% of 2F are gone and even more are gone in 2G

2g has most camps and most non-privateland .not deer that is causing it.

heck, i helped stock drurys run this year on sat before season OPENER and the out of area fisherman came in week before season opened and fished the stream right out.they were seen and told a person, MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS.:rolleye0011:

GREED is driving it now,if deer sticks her head out along roads in summerson mtn, clinton county starting in archery, she is goner.you can sit in your truck and watch same road hunters from 530 am to dark EVERYDAY from archery to end of deer season.pockets full of KIDS TAGS TOO.

So much for them being sold out.Last year 2G was gone in a week if that i do believe.

Hard to belive that 2G has 11114 doe tags left after the first week this year. Funny thing is that everyone I know that applied has been awarded a 2G tag. I don't know if the word hasn't gotten out about the new application or if the county treasurer folks are moving a little slower as they get accustomed to the new system.
