Doug, glad to see you suggest to contact the manufacturer if a person has any questions on how the chemical should be applied. Alot of people have the attitude, what can it hurt? You should never guess with chemicals! Also, where do you purchase your permanone?

BIO-SPOT has killed a few dogs and its a rec dog tick repellent.
that HARTZ 2/1 at wal-mart does work.
but best for dog is ADVANTIX K-9 BUT IT IS EXPENSIVE BUT CAN BE FOUND ON NET FOR 52 DOLLARS FOR 6 MONTHS.
some are puttingtick collars on their dogs and the advantix 9.
thats to much poison on your dog.
anything you put on your dog is absorbed into his system.
PERMANONE is available at WAL-MART in camping section.

crokit, permanone is a brand name. You can buy it at wall mart. It's a copper colored can with a blue lid.You spray it on your coths and it will last for over two weeks.I keep a can in my truck at all times and A pair of pants and shirt sprayed down at all times. If i know I'm going to the woods,I just put those cloths on.This works wonders. It's doesn't repel them however,it kills them after they're on you for a few minutes.
As far as dogs go,I buy a concentrated version of the active ingrediant permetherine at Tractor supply. It's about $5 for a small 8 ounce bottle that you mix with water. This stuff is designed for livestock but I imagine it would work on dogs.Probably best to ask you vet first or call the manufacturer.I use it on my horses and it does work.I may be wrong but I think the brand permanone has something in it that bonds to fabric so it may not be as effective if you spray it on animals.Again,I may be wrong about that.
I seriouisly wouldn't consider going in the woods from now until the first frost without spraying down with permanone or another variation of permetherine.

RE: ticks are out
This time of year it is best to completely shave your dog! A friend of mine who has a friend said he was told bya conservation agent that ticks were almost extinct back in the 70s but they transplanted them and now the population is soaring. I have always thought of having a tick breeding farm just so I could have the tax write off. Actually the 70s were a time that I do not remember too well.

penn state when i called said most SYMSTONS show up 3 days to 2 weeks after bite.
some show up 6 months later.
some have BULLSEYE,other dont.
some have RASH,others dont.
most ticks with 8 legs carry the LYMES,some without 8 legs carry LYMES.
some vets dont believe in LYMES shot, their dogs are getting LYMES.
some of us say, OH I DONT HAVE BULLSEYE,I AM OK.
6 months later, HEART PROBLEMS.
neighbor makes big money, but cheap.
i said, HAVE YOUR DOG GIVEN LYMES SHOT.
he said, SPROUL ITS WASTE OF MONEY,NOT NEEDED.
last fall his dog was dragging its rear legs accross field near my home.
it was limping before that and had hard time getting up.
well, HIS DOG HAS LYMES DISEASE.
did you know that 75% of horses are getting lymes but only 10% of ticks are carrying it.
this was all info from penn state co-op.
did you know guiena hens will eat the ticks, i am getting 2 for my yard next week, if i am allowed.

RE: ticks are out
I just pulled one of them off less than a week ago . . . and another one last night. I just came back from the doctor with a prescription - I got lyme disease . . . and the rash to prove it from the bite last week.
