No matter what we all believe, the one point that screams for our attention is the continued drop among junior hunters. Whatever our differences ALL of us need to try to do our part to get another kid or two involved.

The 1% uptick is not really anything to celebrate. What is noteworthy is that we went from negatives to a positive in a time when the numbers have steadily dropped across the entire US.

the significance of stopping and reversing a trend is indeed large. Anyone who has a tough time accepting that idea needs to watch the replays of Harrisons interception and touchdown run repeatedly till it sinks in. Thats what just happened with license sales.

Rodger pointed out a plausible theory, so did Greg.

Here's my best case theory: Maybewe flushed out theone day punkin army crowd over the past 5 years and we've begun to spark some interestand recapture some of those that had grown tired of the spike and forkie parade every seasonby improving the quality of our bucks.

What is the basis for your theory?

For the first time since 2001, the sale of adult resident hunting licenses has increased from the previous year (656,474 compared to 651,589 in 2007-2008).
I am not sure where Venesky got his data , but the PGC website shows the 2007 adult resident license sales as 665,719, not the 651,589 stated by Venesky. That would be a decrease of 14K licenses rather than an increase.

For years I've been thinking about buyinga 32 caliber percussion rifle for squirrels. Thay would be fun and challenging. I just hate cleaning the little rodents.

Truck, of course the answer isnt for pgc to actually manage responsibly for the appropriate numbers of deer! (LOL) We should all just start hunting squirrel! Sounds exactly like Carl Roe.

I enjoyed a little squirrel hunting as a youth, but still knew what the "real deal" was, and it wasnt oak-weasels.But I spent far more time archery hunting for deer. I had good teachers and very successful even early on. If you'd have asked me toswitch to tree-rats Id have laughed my backside off.

BS posts like the one from this idiot....

How are you going to get a kid involved in hunting once he goes out once for deer? no deer to see and next hunting season he will want to play his video games instead. Pa hunting is over and a waiste of money to buy a license.I am not giving away money to an organization that doesn't do anything for me. I would rather give my 30+$ to a childrens christmas fund than to waiste it and give it to the PgC for bird watchers and antis to benifet off of my money.F!@# them and the pgc this year.
That'll be just fine with the real hunters of this state R2D2

Dont let the door hit ya where the good lordsplit ya!!!

We certainly don't need your kind around the future hunters of this state!

This tells me nothing about the quality of hunters addded to the ranks in PA this year.

Adult resident license sales decreased rather than increasing as the article claimed,at least according to PGC stats.
