Yep,It's the only tag I had left and I saved it just for the occassion.
I know where you're going with this but the Funny thing isRich,Two years ago,it took me 3 days to killthree deer on public land.Last year it took me three daysto killtwo deer on public land and this year it took methree days to kill two deer on public land and I could have killed a buck each day I hunted. Now Treasure lake. Two years ago,i killed a uck and two does in TL but it took me til the last day of the season to fill those tags.Last year,it took me once again to the last day. This year,I killed two more deer because I had two more tags but I had more deerless days than days with deer sighting. My success rate is as good,if not better on public land in 2G as it is anywhere else.

I wasn't going there doug. With the deer activity you described I was pretty sure it was treasure.
You have success on public land but that activity was a bit much for public especially this time of year.
Oh by the way,you sell earthquake insurance? We had a 3.3 down here.

Rich,I was only out for an hour on saturday and hunted an area thatI never huntedbefore. In fact,I only ever scouted it one time. That was the most activity I've ever had in Treasure lake.I honestly only see deer about 50% of the time I hunt in there and usually when I see some,it's only one or two at a time.I saw just as many deer on the last day of rifle season in the same amount of time in Sinnemahoning.
The thing about Treasure lake isthat the majority of the deer are in places where you can't hunt. Most of the undeveloped land has very little food this time of year sowe're actually hunting deer densities into the single digits and out pellet counts show that at times and in certain places.A couple places are real hotspots now because some recent logging has occured and the deer are back intheundeveloped areas hammering the fresh tops.

Nnfortunately,in this particular area, all the timber over 14 inches at the stump is being raped. We had a poor mast crop this year so there's no seeds on the ground and there won't be anY more in the future. The only regeneration will be striped maple, beech and polk weed because there's no seed sorcesleft and there's way too many deer. It's really an ecoligical nightare that can be blamed on poor forestry practices and poor deer management practices.

Now is a great time for you land owners to do your land and your deer some good by cutting down and thinning the maples that are taking over the state. The buds make great deer food and opening the canopy will help with new growth this spring. Its a win win .

Had a very good day today. We weren't all that eager to start the day early with the windchill at 3 degrees so we went out at 10. Just two of us doing small one man drives. The first drive didnt even start when three bucks came in and bedded about 80 yards out from me. When my buddy put out 6 does, they came right past the bucks and the 8 pointer immediately started doggingone of the doeslike she was in estrous. They made several circles while the rest of the deer and I watched. She finally led him right past me but he was just a little guy and I decided to let him grow up. She never gave me a shot but the other doe with her did. The muzzy did her in in 30 yards.
Abigger buck(also legal but still too small)and two more doe stayed around awhile but eventually took off in another direction.
Now it was my buddy's turn.As soon as I stepped into the brush on his drive Ihad three up that passed just out of his comfort zone for a good shot. I put up 4 more but they stayed just out of range too. This was a new spot for us and we're still learning how the deerbehave this time of year but we think we've got it figured out for next time.
Wealso saw another dozen or so from the vehicle between drives and were home before 4PM
Total deer seen in6hours 29. 26 does and three bucks. Two of the bucks were AR legal.
Not a bad way to start the year

Congratulations to BTB on the doe ,even though he won't see it since he is blocking my posts. But now we know why BTB so blindly supports the PGC. The fact is he is still hunting in the deer farm he accused me of wanting in this post.
He is still passing on legal buck the vast majority of PA hunters would love to harvest ,but they are not good enough for the great white hunter, hunting on a deer farm. If his crew saw all the deer in a .5 SM the OWDD would be around 58 DPSM. Although he did not say where he was hunting, the goal for 2B was 13 DPSM, not 58 DPSM!!
Bluebird expects our deer to be managed as one big statewide deer farm with no regard for other species and no regard for the property owners that absorb the costs of supporting our wildlife. As long as he clings to that mentality, it's kind of useless to debate him or ask where he;s coming from.
