I woke up 4 AM feeling run over by a truck and badly congested. Took some stuff and set my alarm for 7 to go local instead of out to my main spot. That went off & I felt even worse. So I spent all day on the couch. [:@]
I'm feeling better than this morning, I am REALLY hoping I feel well enough to hunt at least some tomorrow. THis morning was cold but would have been a good one on stand.

Hit the alarm button at 4:30 and next thing I knew it was 7:30[:'(]
Knew the rain was coming so I slept in and blew off one of my favorite days to hunt[:'(]

Hope the real hunters who got out there had a good day

I'll be out tomorrow, well rested of course!

Sproul, I hope that stuff melts off some for ya. It sounds pretty bad and the deer really dont need that base of hard frozen snow under whatever else falls this winter!
bob, you cant believe how bad we are having it here in CLINTON COUNTY.

i took a rideout to see if any hunters were brave enough to hunt, i did not see 1 hunter or tracks on roads that they were out.

i did see bear tracks and 2 sets in my yard.

no one wants to go out,i bet i called 4 friends.

they are afraid of that icy snow and many are just not in mood.

i sat up at my area looking down pipeline,it looked so lonely out there, wind blowing, laural swinging and snow shining like a ice rink.

this has to be awful hard on deer that are left just trying to stand up.

i bet that is why we are seeing very few tracks along roads too, deer just are not moving.

only way to get a deer here is if you have someone that could drive a deer to you.

thats not happening with no people.

i expected to see some hunters or small crews.

NONE, NOT A SOUL FOR 10 MILES.

Maybe were are just getting old and making excuses.
I had a stomach ache and heartburn last night from the remnants of an intestinal virus and I felt no better this morning at 5 am, so I slept instead of heading out. Boy did I regret it when I got up later. I should have pressed on and went.
Gonna try for tomorrow AM. Will be warm and I hear the rain will clear out. As long as the pan stays dry I'll be good.
Good luck all.

I may get one as a rainy day flintlock alternative myself.

It's rather handy in the late season. Especially when the deer get educated and get into the habit of living within the 150 yard safety zones. Of course a bow will work there too, but a vertical bow is a little inconvenient when you gotta lay down in a brush patch to cover an escape funnel while your buddy does a drive.

It also is allowed by some of my landowners where the flincher is not.

Ialternate between all three in late season, real bow, crossbow and flinchlock. just depends on the location and situation.

Saw a pretty good buck this morning. No shot opportunity. Did a little "nature walk" through some property owned by our friends at Adubonand sent three does in the direction of my buddy on some adjoining property. The does bedded 75 yards out for awhile and then got up and went the other way so he got no shot.

We wanted it warmer than the week began but this was just a little too warm. We were both soaked and bagged it at noon.
