Default Rutting activity

Was bear hunting today..........or should i say taking my gun for a walk. I suddenly seen a doe running at me and another doe running at me. It turns out it was a buck. I could jjust see little white nubs on his head. It was chasing that doe hard. I would think it would be considered a doe since it antlers are less than 3 inches for at least this upcoming season. I think that's pretty crappy that a spike is going to breed a doe...No big boys in the woods?....I was in the mountains...probably not.
