Default Upland Game Hunting in VT...

There is a good chance I'll be moving back to VT in the next 12 months (Franklin, Lamoille or Washington county). I grew up in Washington county and at that time the hunting was very good and easily accessible. Is it still the case?

I heard about some law regarding training dogs where you can't use a firearm while training? Is this true? That could result in some mileage to finish up steadiness.

Thanks,

There is still alot of public land around, but you might have to drive a little farther to get there. Not sure about up north, but down in SW VT the partridge numbers seem to be on the rise. Check the fish and wildlife website for specific laws governing dog training.

Things are still about the same as when you were here especially in the north. There are lots of posted lands but upland game hunters can often get permission. The state wildlife areas are more numerous and some are actually pretty good for grouse, rabbits and squirrel. The waterfowl hunting is real good or so I have been told. Good luck with the move if you get the chance.
