Shooting wild hogs on hold in PA
#12
Pa doesnt even have a trappers license
A furtakers license is required for hunting or trapping of furbearers but is specifically not required for coyotes.
Bobcats require their own special license by drawing only because the goal there is a limited harvest.
Must be something special in those Marlboros

No law covered "certifying" them before releasing them that I'm aware of, because it was never legal to release feral hogs into the wild here.

ADOPTED 2007-08 FURBEARER HUNTING SEASONS
COYOTES: No closed season. Unlimited. Outside of any deer or bear season, coyotes may be taken with a hunting license or a furtaker license, and without wearing orange. During any archery deer season, coyotes may be taken while lawfully hunting deer or with a furtaker license. During the regular firearms deer and any bear seasons, coyotes may be taken while lawfully hunting deer or bear, or with a furtaker license while wearing 250 square inches of fluorescent orange. During the spring gobbler season, may be taken by those with a valid tag and meet fluorescent orange and shot size requirements.
DennyF:
Just so my words cant be construed by others: the above statement(taken directly from the PGC website) will replace my original statement trying to answer your question of how do they charge you to hunt coyotes.During the regular firearms deer,,and any bear seasons, coyotes may be taken while lawfully hunting deer or bear,,,or with a furtaker liscense. Now,,, since lawfully hunting deer or bear means that you must have a tag to hunt em and my original statement said that i would like to hunt coyotes after i tagged out on deer (1 buck tag because i cant justify killing a doe in these days and times) but could not justify spending the money on a Furtaker liscense (nonresident)
Thank You

BTBow: I think the above post taken straight from the PGC website will contradict your above statement suggesting that a furtaker liscense is not required to hunt coyotes!

and,,,just to stay on topic,,,i feel that this is how the PGC will charge you to hunt those little porkers,,,,we all know that the PGC does'nt want you trapsing around the woods in deer season with a loaded gun and no Tag,,,( cause we would'nt want you to accidently take a 2nd buck now would we)

so i look for them to have a little porker tag that you can purchase to shoot above mentioned piggies while Lawfully hunting deer or bear
Thank You

i believe the problem with hunting them is it is actually helping the population spread. wild hogs breed and establish pretty rapidly as it is...they say with hunting pressure, that some of the hogs leave the area and continue breeding and spreading the population. betting that is why they dont want them hunted as of now.

If not mistaken, the only time you cannot hunt 'yotes on just the generalhunting license, is during deer season daylight hours if you no longer have the deer tag. You can still hunt them before daylight and after sunset, without the "deer tag"....just can't shoot one during daylight hunting hours in deer season.
I know people who hunt 'yotes and have never bought the furtaker's license. I buy one just to have it, in case I would need it, plus it's good for things other than just coyotes. So for the purposes of this discussion, there is no requirement to buy an extra license just to shoot 'yotes.
Would bet that the piggy regs will be about the same: If you have killed a deer and used the tag, then you may not be able to shoot pigs infirearms deer season? Just have to wait and see what they come up with, but doubt they'll try to slow down the killing of feral hogs or make any money from it.
