you are use to hunting bigger body mountain deer. the deer in the pines are a different breed. in my opinion harder to hunt and cany explain it but spook much easier . they eat pine needles for food and are a master at looking up in the trees. there are some big ones but you gotta work hard to find them.

you are right on the money about looking up in the trees, had a couple of small does come in spotted me pretty quick but did not spook them just seemed to wander off. i think I am in a good spot have seen the does every time in the stand an have a rub line about 50 yards in front of me.Took a bruizer in mickleton area last year 8 point heavy beam201lb dressed out last day of regular archery. He was in the some of the thickest brush I have ever been in but I always thought the big one are still out there you got to work to get them.

Good luck with zone 25 my friend. I've hunted25 all of my life, and this year has been by far.....the worst. (disease and an overpopulation of coyotes)

Rockwood and Westmill (23) have not treated me well this year either. This is the first year I haven't tagged a buck during archery season.

The farm deer aren't as bad as deer in deeper woods.

But yes!.......It's no wonder they don't walk face first into trees from looking up all of the time.

By any chance are you a Hammontonian?
