Actually i know a few by those names but.I am closer to Calais area than anyplace else. I travel up towards Hainseville and Kingman area for a little hunting every once in a while. I fish the St. Croix River quite a bit get a few stripers during the summer months though most are just schoolies. I travel over to the Old Town area to a bird farm in Greenbush for some practice hunting with my setters.
I work right in brewer. I have some friends in Milford/Old Town areas. You ever fished the kennebec? theres some good stripers in there.

I work for Domtar in Bailyville, have tried my luck on the expanded archery in Bangor/ Brewer area but gave up to many no tresspassing signs/not knowing anyone with enough land to hunt on. I have never fished the Kennebec but have always wanted to I have watch them catch a few stripers and salmon there.

I just came across a spot today boys that is just screamin HUNT HERE!!! Its a small waterhole on top of a ridge thats all ill say and its a livin bitch to get too but I am going in tomarrow and set up a stand. I only have the next 3-4days to hunt archery and a couple days next week. Low on buck sign but high on deer sign....Tracks up the wazzoooooooooooo. I was told that it gets hammered come opening day of rifle and every day after but no one bow hunts it that they new of. I will lug in a ground blind and a stand the ground blind I will set off the side down wind of the water that should keep me within 40 to the woods on the other side so I can cover the whole thing and the stand I will put about midway up just down the ridge about a 1/2-3/4 mile on a run that comes off the top I donno that one needs a closer look. Anyway I wish me luck and good luck to any of you who are out there.

Todd

I grew up in Van Buren, and now live in Hampden. I agree with Phil it is real hard to find hunting areas in this area. I do all my bird hunting up north on paper company lands, plenty of old roads to walk. I also go north to chase the big deer. The only time I hunt in the Hampden area is when I take my son out deer hunting. A couple more years and he'll be able to join me for deer camp. Side note...My son and I are fired up for Youth Day this Saturday!!!

Born in Bangor, raised in Gardiner. 7th generation Mainer. Lived in Old Town in College, Stockton Springs (took my second of 5 200# deer there), Searsport, Winterport while working in Bucksport. Currently working in PA, but have 40 acres west of Houlton, and hunt at least a week (the third week of November) in Maine's western mountains every fall. Will be building a retirement home there soon.

I hear ya craig I like to go to a friends camp every year the second week of november. Its in the NW of the state and on the Canadian Border. Of course the entertainment is going to be more diffacult to get to now that we need passports to go over to it but Oh Well. The pond thing isnt going to happen, obligations at home for the rest of this week and next but I can many fit in a sit or two here in Stockton up on Fletchers Hill or something. I have seen a few does and a skipper in a couple spots around here that I could have tagged but I HATE tagging out before camp unless its something decent. Needless to say I have never tagged out before deer camp...LOL. I didnt get a doe permit this year either. I put in for 7,8, extra in 25 and didnt get squat!!! Non Res did, boy dont that chap my ass!!![:@]oh well not much I can do about it I guess.

Later Guys shoot straight and teach a kid to hunt and fish, not smoke dope and wash it down with Allens!!

Rabid, me and my brother wryfly go to deer camp during the 2nd week of the season also. We hunt in the nw portions of Maine. The one thing that we found out that works really well in that area are the French-Canadian deer calls. You can still use your current deer call, some of the deer up there are bilingual. If I don't get my deer that week then I may have to utilize my doe permit!
