I grouse hunted there a few weeks ago ,I saw those deer pens on the south side of the road. The first one I went in had a good size bear.
What the heck are the trees with all the thorns.I seen buck sign in all the cut areas we hunted.

Motrin, without seeing them,I can only guess but my first guess would be devils club. They get bunches of berries on them in the fall and the bear hammer them. You don't want to try and climb any.

We lease property from Cotton Hanlin Timber Company in NY.Good company to deal with but there leases are a little on the expensive side.Around 900.00 for every 100 acres you lease. They base your lease on the taxes and our county has had considerable tax hikes the last few years.
