doug, i am using short comments now. who you think got the doe permits reduced?????HANNA did, state rep.hunters put pressure on him in 2g.why do you think some WCO,sdont like hanna for doing this???who do you think puts pressure on the PGC ???? state reps do.dont you think insuranceand hammermill /international paper has pull with out state reps????yep.doug, PGC knows where their paycheck comes from.state reps allow increase in hunting licenses.so, PGC is going to do what is going to be in their best interest.with lower license sales you can see that pgc could be merged with dcnr. then, their paycheck would come from STATE taxes.i really think that most in the pgc would like being merged into dcnr.you would know more on that, not me but if the money is going to dry up do to hunters not buying hunting licenses, then i would expect they would be much happier over with dcnr and steady paycheck coming in. what do you think.

Foursox, take rt 322 up Clearfield mountain.Go past where you would turnto go toward Rockton and head toward I80.Take the last state forest road to the left before you hit the interstate. That state forest road will intersect with another state forest road and the clearcut will be strait ahead. You can't miss it.The cleacut is about 100 acres in size and it was fenced for probably 18 or so years. They took the fence down 2 years ago.The difference inside that fence and what's outside is night and day.

Sproulman,Hanna and the rest of the statedemocratic state reps that are tryng to hold the PGC hostageby not granting a fee increase are a bunch of jerks.I went to the hearing that Hanna and Surra held in Dubois. It was an absolute embarrasment. The PGC admitted the herd was down in 2G last year and slashed the allocation almost in half. They did the same this this year.Hanna still says he won'tvote for a lisence increase so obviously the reduction in allocations had nothing to do with his threats. The only people he's hurting by not granting a lisence increase in the hunters he claims to support.Less money means less programs and less habitat work for the wildlife.I don't knowhow most PGC employess feel about a merger.I do that the the two WCO's that I personally know,do not want a merger.Do you want to know what every state rep said at that hearing? They all stood up and said that there was nothing they could do about the number of antlerless allocations. Now you're giving them credit for it.

Once again you're spouting off assumptions without facts to back them up.Why would these same state reps that were supposedly be bought off and lobbied by insurance companies and timber companies now be demanding allocations be reduced? You make no sense.

Show me where one insurance company sponsored any conferance to reduce deer numbers.Show me one bit of evidence that they provided testimony at any PGC meeting to reduce deer numbers. You're flat out wrong on this one.I own my own insurance agency and I can tell you for a fact that the subject of too many deer or too many deer claims had never been brought up to me.I hear about different risks every day but deer have never even been mentioned. Why is that?because deer claims are very predictable from year to year. This consistency allows insurance companies to adjust rates according to each rating territoty so they can still make a profit. The consumers pay the ultimate price for too many deer claims not the insurance company. You're simply wrong, wrong, wrong.

I'm pretty sure they increased the demap tags in areas of 2G up to last year Doug.I'm specifically thinking of Potter county.I did some searching to find out for sure but couldn't find the numbers.
Got your numbers for you.
2003 3 DMAP units in SF District 15 which Potter and Mckean. 36,194 acres enrolled with 1309 coupons issued (1444 available). 284 deer harvested.

2004 4 DMAP units, 50,020 acres enrolled with 2000 coupons available (no listing for # acually issued). 296 deer harvested.

2005 4 DMAP units, 50,054 acres enrolled with 1586 coupons available (no listing for # acually issued). 229 deer harvested.

The 4 DMAP areas are in 2G and in Potter County for the most part. Southern Potter County.

Just wondering about all of this I live in Crawford county we have some of the best cover in the state. Here also the goal seems to elimination ofthe whitetail doe.So much land here is now posted because of the doe slaughter. The goal of the alters has seemed to backfire here ,now no one lets people doe hunt.

i posted my land also, funny thing is,i have deer and rabbits ,squirreals, grouse on my land. i had 9 rabbits out there in kettle creek last night when i took my beagle out .BUT ,state forestland is right next to me.both the stateland and mine are same. same habitat.YET , i have game on my land.you can drive for miles and not see deer or rabbit and very few squirreals on state forestland.my biggest problem i haveis predators, which i let trappers on my land to trap. last year a friend of mine got 21 coyotes trapping here.poachers sneak into my land and shot my deer years ago. i have signs up now and my deer are coming back good.HUNTERS andPREDATORS killing the young doe and fawns is what is causing the low numbers of deer. you proved that by saying you have great habitat and no deer. i wish we could convince some of that fact.good info.

I fully understand what a lobbyist is.Ok so who is being paid off?Isit the PGC biologists, the commissioners or the legistatures? The legislatures have no say in how many deer we have, yet so many people seem to think lobbyists from the insurance industry are paying them off.My first question is,what good would it do to pay someone off that doesn't have any say in the decision making process. My next question is,if these guys were paid off,why are they now backing up the claims of hunters who are complaining of no deer?

Most of the land is not posted in this part of 2G yet we still have plenty of deer, squirrels, rabbits, grouse and turkeys.I wonder why there's such a difference. We also have bear, coyotes, hawks and lot's of hunters. No mountain lions though. That must be the difference.

Dang strait, thats the only reason land is posted at a record rate!!!

Near me there is a big gun club that owns tons of land, they just recently posted all their land, when I ran into one of em, they flat out said thats why, the doe slaughter!! Your talking quite a bit of land now off limits, seems to be the popular thing. I'm just glad I got private land to fall back on.

Thank you T.
Looks like a big bump up in 2004 and then a drop off in 05..I hope the demaps for that area don't increase in 06.For now the deer numbers are down and cutbacks were needed. That's good.
Hey T do you have info for the rest of 2G?

doug, oh my. i will take it slow.the game commissioners are appointed.the HUNTERS had no say in who got appointed, follow back ground of commissioners.this leads to ANSWER OF ALL YOUR QUESTIONS. COMMISSIONERS/POLITICIANS/LOBBYISTS.the special interest groups are running state now, not the HUNTERS.its BIG MONEY and you can bet rendell and his co-horts are deeply involved in it.rendell was so interested in our deer situation that he went to philadelpia eagles game during the meeting on deer. you can bet he knew which way those commissioners would handle things.hope youcan see the light.
