RE: MOUNTAIN LION PICTURE IN PA.
ORIGINAL: Gunwalkr Well, I've been sittin' back and watchin' to see what everyones response would be to "stoolman's" pics! Thank goodness there are some very astute members posting here 'cause I'd be really depressed if everyone was buying this "hoax"! That pic IS a bobcat beyond a shadow of a doubt. And it looks like the "pup" cougar that he saw years ago was actually an adult bobcat and this "hun'erd" pounder is really only 2 pounds heavier than the first one he saw! Maybe even lighter! This is a prime example of inexperienced sportsmen letting their imagination carry them away! Totally laughable, especially coming from someone claiming to be so "woodswise"!
Why do you guys always start with the condescending "backward folk" namecalling. |

What are you talking about I'm the one that pointed out that the turnpike pic was a fraud. Maybe you should read the posts before you speak. And I'm not trying to place myself above others that have been "taken in" im placing myself above you, because your scam or what ever you wnt to call it is a childish prank and possibly the most stupid thing I have ever seen. Beside what were your motives in the first place to doing this. Oh yea just so you know im 16, and even I thought what you did was stupid.

What you don't understand but what everybody else that has been here very long does understand is that livbucks and I have had some pretty nasty exchanges regarding this subject. I'm not proud of my part in them either. So you can't appreciate how funny it is for you to be explaining to him of all people whatwas going on. Let me explain it to you in your words ... ORIGINAL Gunwalkr: OH MY GAWD!!!! Now that IS hilarious!!! HAHAHAHAHA! btw, name calling as you did when you referred to sproulman as "stoolman" is pretty low. |
RE: MOUNTAIN LION PICTURE IN PA.
AWWW....c'mon guys....I was just tryin' to have a little fun....just like the morons that play little childish games by posting jokes on a hunting thread! Your little prank should have been a thread in the "off season" section, IMHO!
Well, looking at your and livbucks posting numbers just proves to me that a thousand posts or more does not improve the intelligence level of the person submitting the post! Even folks with severe mental handicaps can post on a site like this, and that's what makes America so great. We"intellectual" types really do like going toe to toe with the "little people" like yourselves for mental excercise. Keeps us young and "NORMAL"!![]() Oh, and by the way. Sproulman was pretty much "dis-associated" from another website because of his "off the wall" posting concerning topics pertaining to hunting in northern PA. If I were you two (God forbid I even imagine it could be true) I would avoid any comraderie with him like the plague! But that's JMHO! ![]() |
RE: MOUNTAIN LION PICTURE IN PA.
I guess we all should have a little fun and not take any of this too seriously. It just isn't worth it.

RE: MOUNTAIN LION PICTURE IN PA.
Yep, that's EXACTLY how I sees it! There's a proper time and place for everything, and in it's proper place, tom-foolerie is a grand and glorious ice breaker! Makes all classes and breeds of folks get along just grandly!
Honestly....I don't walk on water until prodded from below the waves! ![]() |
RE: MOUNTAIN LION PICTURE IN PA.
gunwalkr, i gave picture to livbucks, he was nice enough to post it for me as i dont know how to do it.now, you belittle him and others and call me bad names and try to DEGRADE me on here. why do you act this way here. this is nice bunch of people on here.why do you call hunters, like us in LYCOMING COUNTY ,almost a lier. thats not nice.its no wonder that most will not report seeing a cougar as they are made fun of and called names like STOOLMAN or turd etc.i only came on here to show that their is proof coming in that we are seeing cougars.all people i talked to cant be wrong.for years I NEVER heard of anyone reporting a COUGAR HERE..these same hunters saw BOBCATS all their lives.for you to say that is what they are seeing and not a COUGARis not fair. you make it look as if they are not seeing what they are. i believe everyone that i talked to or heard that said they saw a cougar. if you want to go after someone, go after me, i started this post.just try to control yourcomments, no need to make fun of anyones opinion on here.how about it?

Gunwalkr,
Glad to know that us silly, ignorant, little people amuse you. Now that we know that there is a self-proclaimed, all-knowing God in our midst, we will have purpose in our lives. I'm confident you will make lots of friends here, ....welcome. We will be sure to lift you up on our insignificant little backs whenever we can manage it. At the very least, we have all learned that you possess the rare skill of depositing appropriate smileys in your posts....AWESOME! You da bomb, man! |

RE: MOUNTAIN LION PICTURE IN PA.
you know, i guess it is hard for some to believe that cougars are here in pa. and some other states.i just heard that in adams county they shot a wolve that weighted 122 pds, oh my.i guess another one was with it. man, thats big. i NEVER heard of wolve in pa. pgc has the wolve now and says that they believe the hunters and say that there is another one too. all kidding aside, where are all these coyotes, cougars and red hawks, bobcats, fischers, eagles and now WOLVES coming from?man, this is getting real interesting.

we never had red tail hawk or eagles.we never saw a coyote or heard of a cougar.we had bobcats and fox but no wolves. now wolves.pa. is changing ,for sure.

RE: MOUNTAIN LION PICTURE IN PA.
If you didn't know the pics that Sylvan posted were obviously faked... |
RE: MOUNTAIN LION PICTURE IN PA.
Sproulman,
I grew up in north central PA (Tioga co.) and I'm 54 years old. Although I'd say there are more yotes and eagles now then when I was a kid, I can't remember a time when any of the animals you mentionedweren't here (with the exception of wolves and cougars). |

RE: MOUNTAIN LION PICTURE IN PA.
Actually, Charlie, they did realize they were faked. What they didn't get was the facetious intent of the post. They thought I was seriously presentingthem as evidenceof ml's in PA. Even though I purposefully did a horrible editing job on the turnpike pic and even placed a gorilla in it followed by an outrageous story they still didn't recognize that I was simply using a little humor to make a point and not trying to trick anybody. I'm still amazed they didn't understand instantly what was going on. (apparentlystill don't so you might want to mention that prime hunting land you have for salehere in NY, you know the land with all the B&C's on it you're selling for such a low price!). of 1250. Apparently, one does draw knowledge from the time accumulated here and number of posts made. If you are unclear of where you stick your foot, it often goes directly in your mouth. I thought we behaved admirably this go 'round. We showed a little respect for the other guy and injected some humor. I'm not proud ofmy last foray into this topic. |
RE: MOUNTAIN LION PICTURE IN PA.
I did see that post about the wolves in PA thought to have been captive and purposely released. The first was shot and the second was captured but the PGC was not releasing any more info until they did a little more investigation on their end. The only reseason they even released the info that they did was to get help locating these animals.
Hey - Sylvan - Since Gunwalkr wanted to make this forum a little more Intellectual and weed out the "little people" and "simple minded" I though we would start talking about quantum physics and my theroy on the Third Demention of time. What do you think? |

RE: MOUNTAIN LION PICTURE IN PA.
I think there is just a shift in the population of all types of animals in the region. its not really explainable in a way that can not be debated but I pretty much gre up in the wood and over the past few years i have seen animals that I never saw in the woods as a kid. I have seen flying squirles, never saw them when i was younger, I saw and reported what looks like a Ivory billed wood pecker which are not supposed to be around and were possible extinct. Audubond society said from the description it sounds like one but it could be an extreamly large pilliated woodpecker - either way never saw one before this one. I have seen a few bald eagles and one nesting pair in the area that i know of. I found some type of hawk that nests on the ground in a wide open field - I have watched the nest for the last three years and watched a handfull of the chicks grow up. I have seen more bobcat in the last two years than i have seen in my entire life, i have seen a couple of black beers that seem to be sticking to one area and not just passing through like they used to. Out east near Massachusits my uncle has a friend that was video tapping a fawn and while tapping it the fawn was killed by a Fisher - he had never seen them around except for in the Adirondaks at his bear camp. He also saw a full grown Lynx in his back yard that was eating the carcass' from a successfull goose hunt he and my cousins were on. And he has been around bobcats out there his entire life and said it was definately not a bobcat. Then there are the constant reports of someone spotting a mt lion and those sightings seem to be happening all over the east, and there is the issue of coyotes and how explosively that population has taken off in certain areas.
Weather or not these animals are here or not - the area was home to them long before we ever got here so I have no problem seeing them comming home. Just my opinion though. |
RE: MOUNTAIN LION PICTURE IN PA.
You also need to remember there were no prey around a hundred years ago. No deer or turkeys in any numbers. The predator species were hunted all the time. The woods had been cut down for farm fields, lumber, firewood and charcoal. Up until the 60's all decent farmable land was worked. Then farms started going out of buisness and the fields grew up. The states started returning the turkeys and the deer really rebounded. The use of DDT was stopped so the birds of prey could start hatching their eggs. Plus some were stocked, (perigrine falcons and eagles for example) With all this prey available, the coyotes were the first to take advanage. But then they are more adaptable. The cats were slower but they are coming too.As well as the bears. The biggest problem I see coming is when the prey species go to a bust year, what will all the predators do? Starving predators will not be fun to have around.

RE: MOUNTAIN LION PICTURE IN PA.
i did not read the captive part of wolves.do you have any readings on these wolves being captive?
|
RE: MOUNTAIN LION PICTURE IN PA.
i watched the PGC and PENN STATE wayback in woods STOCKING fishers.they then dropped road kills from helicopter to feed them.this was about 10 years ago.it was in the JEWS RUN AREA of clinton county .
