Anyone happen to know where they are looking to build the new Bass Pro Shops? I had heard they were looking atSouth Strabane township. It's been a while since I've heard an update.

I heard they were still "evaluating" South Strabane area. Have not heard anything definite. I've been to Cabela's in WV and Bass Pro in Orlando and Savanah... would have to say that the Cabela's is far better but there is also a big difference, IMO, between the two Bass Pro strores with Orlando being far better.

I hear the Bass Pro store that is planned for Pittsburgh is supposed to be some new prototype store. Supposed to have it's own hotel with cabin rooms and other unique features. Will be the only one of it's kind when it's finished.

Jeremy...not sure where you heard that?? They are trying to pass a TIF through the townships and schools before they can do any building. They are going to develop a whole hillside to build an outlet mall. I agree, i like cabelas more than bass pro but it wouldnt hurt having a basspro 10 mins from my house.

Finally found a good link about the site.

The store will have 200,000 to 250,000 square feet of space, and a 200-room hotel will sit above it, said Michael Dunham, Bass Pro Shops director of real estate. There also will be 18 two-bedroom and eight three-bedroom guest cabins.
The Adirondack lodge-style outdoor store will have an indoor boat showroom and restaurant and could include indoor/outdoor shooting and archery ranges, an ATV test rack, nature park and a 10,000-square-foot spa, he said.
Several restaurants new to the Pittsburgh area also could be included, such as Islamarada, a seafood restaurant now in Florida, Dunham said. Other planned attractions include wildlife displays, waterfalls and aquariums stocked with native fish and a mountain wall for climbing.
