whack..... whack.......WHACK!!!!!! Take that you old dead horse!!!

Alt is gone! He made some mistakes along the way as he said he would but he left us better off than we were. It needs some adjustment but Pa deer management has taken a turn in the right direction.

It's time to move on dd. You've dug your own hole with your distortions and spinning. As I've said before, you occasionally make a point thats valid but in your quest toassassinateGary Alt (figuratively, of course), you've hidden the slivers of truth among your countless lies and distortions. Its truly a shame that someone with your passion and dedication cant stay objective and keep to the facts. You could be an asset to all hunters. Its a shame you have chosen a path that only serves to further divide our ranks.

Did you work on the Clinton campaign team????

DD is online almost 24/7. He should spend some of that energy on huntin' up a big (oops, I said it) buck.
As for Alt. Yep, said he would make some mistakes, did. Gave us those yummy AR and Some needed HR. Improved the quality of our bucks, (yes, there are less) Fought to improve the herd while singlehandedly fighting against the "a spike for every stumpsitter" traditional mentality in this state.
Our next fight is against the eco-tourism trend. It is getting to the point that you have to get court approval to cut down any amount of timber in this state. It boggles my mind too, when hunters get mad at loggers for cutting at "their spot". Big woods=small deer. FACT!

Guess I'll throw my hat in the ring.First of all let's all forget about Alt.The things this guy said about hunters and the PGC after leaving his position lets him with no credibility in the hunting community what so ever.He bashed us all in a newspaper in anti hunting territory which does alot of damage to our past time. The guy is no friend he is foe.
And there's other groups that want to put an end to deer hunting because they don't want to share the forest with us.Can you blame them?I guess not but I'll be danged if I'm going to help them.
Let's face it.We are not going to recruit young hunters who have to hunt on these state lands with 12 dpsm or less.Plus we'll lose the hunters we have. Will it hurt us who are left? You bet because this movement isn't stuck only in PA it's in states accross the US and the less hunters we have the more our voice shrinks. In the end we'll lose our right to hunt to what they say is saving the habitat.
And in the end as these groups against deer push for old growth forests and acid rain and the soil remain the same regen won't increase as they hoped.YOU HAVE TO OPEN UP THE CANOPY!I will post pics of great regen of white oaks in various stages in an area rated at 38 dpsm. It's in the open canopy and just 50 yards away in the shade theres no new growth.
Am I asking to see 50 deer a day?Nope. But I am asking that we keep deer hunting alive with a huntable population. You get below 15 dpsm and you don't have that.Oh there's a few die hards that will do it but very few. Here's a note to the groups and people who want all or 99% of the deer dead.DEER ARE A NATURAL EQUATION IN THE FOREST ECO SYSTEM AND YOU NEED TO LIVE WITH THAT.These un natural populations you want will also affect other populations.Let's start with the bear.
Deer belong in the forest.Maybe not naturally in the high populations of the past but they do belong.Deer pellets make great fertilizer for the oaks.Gotta go,my finger is tired.

Can I ask why ddear's numbers frustrate some of you?Or for that matter why do we hunters get so upset at each other when we disagree on other's facts and or opinions?I've seen plenty of numbers from both sides of the issues. While I disagree with some numbers or opinions from both sides it's always interesting to weigh them out.Wouldn't it be a boring life if we were all the same?Lighten up folks,we were all born with different thinking caps.

It is Alt and his supporters that can't face the facts and resort to spinning and distorting the data . Then you attack those that present the data and claim they are lying ,even though you can't provide one example of where I lied about the effects of AR's or anything else
To date the only mistake the PGC has admitted to and corrected is the flawed population computer model which they were forced to abandone. They have not corrrected their mistake by publishing the current OWDD's or telling us how much the herd has been reduced.

Obviously this topic is headed no where but a "re-hash" of the same ole same ole. I think its quite obvious that most if not all are sick and tired tired of hearing about ALT and the same old DATA and negativety(sp) - not to mention questionable accuracy and total bias to only one point of view - NEGATIVE.
