Usually the rut is the same time as gun season here so you have a whole lot of people trying to kill everbody's elses deer, the game wardens are run ragged trying to catch all the poachers and road hunters that are trying get the dogs just to run the bigger bucks and then of course you have all tresspassers coming in on you, in your favorite stand plus the fact the deer are so nocturnal here from being harassed by the local rural mailman that just loves to run over deer so he can make another claim on his old truck that so he can make his house payment then you add in the fact i haven't seen a deer for the last two season, but it is starting to look better this year i seen one rub and two sets of tracks i think they were deer but then again i was pretty close to a pig farm, but i am going to set a stand there for next year just in case they were deer, no sense in letting all that fresh sign go to waste so come on down to mo.we are just waiting for you, just remember deliverance and practice squealing like a pig just in case, well i got to go, the old lady is yelling something about the dogs have something cornered in the yard ,man i hope it is possum this time i getting tired of eating cat for supper.Hope to be talking to you later on and hey if you get some time drop on by our house when your here,we can shoot the bull and if you need anymore advice just let me know i will be happy to help you out

I take it you don't want any non-res.'s hunting here in our state?

Dayuuum......

...and I thought that just went on in MY neck of the woods!

buckonthehill - I don't know what to tell ya'... Just when I think I may have a clue, the rules change - just like the weather.

Personally, I prefer the 1st 2 weeks over hunting the latter part of November. Don't wait too long....gun season isn't but 10-12 days long - beginning (usually) in the 2nd week. Muzzleloader season is in December. We had a record ML season harvest this year - an 80% increase! I'm sure we'll pay for THAT one way or another....if you know what I mean.

BUCK..depending on weather, mobow is right on.I personly quit gun hunting years ago.One of the reasons way too many people in the woods, too much pressure. But if going to hunt public land hope your a nice guy and don't mind sharing, you'll have plenty of company. But come on down we'd be glade to have you.

hey thanks for the replys

im pretty sure that it is in the north areas 5-6 but don't get me wrong though if there isn't one. see here in pa there are a lot of hunters too and i really don't like that but what are you going to do.

this summer im going to take a weekend vacation to see what it is like over there. what am i expect to see? is there a lot of open grass/wheat fields or deep woods? what would be the best time to go down to see deer moving and to look around.
