Everyone seems to have luck in mid Feb. I live in the NW corner of Ill. (50 miles from Ws. border) & am fortunate to be able to watch deer from my house year round. I saw 5 bucks (Jan 22) next to my house (20 to 50 yards) ALL had their antlers, smallest was a 8 point & two were very big bucks. Never saw the two biggies during season but did see the others. Last year I saw two big bucks lock horns & fight 15 min. the 20th of Jan. Tried to video but was to dark & they were 100 yards away. YES-=I do hunt them.

always thankful

The bucks are just starting to drop antlers.
I found one last Thursday. One side of a little six pointer. I have seen a couple with one side missing; however, most of the bucks still have both antlers.

Im lucky enough to live near a forest preserve[a joke]that always seems to have a buck or two in it. Last year it was early march. This year I expect it to be early due to this mild winter. If I dont see any racks within a week, then its time. Good Luck John

keep'em in your sights

I was out yesterday, 2/6/02 and glassed 4 different bucks from about 45 yards. All had dropped or shed their antler.

I've seen 3 bucks who have already dropped in Illinois in the last two weeks!

And I've heard that farther North they drop earlier, so get out there NOW !

Keep 'em all in the Bull.
