Don't know about the UP but in Northern WI, (next door)
the grouse are up about 20% and last year was a great year.
Lots of birds this spring and dry conditions so a good hatch is expected as is good survival.

We hunt near Amasa (Iron County) and have been seeing tons of birds, most ever I can recall actually. We didn't hear much drumming during trout season, which I was a little worried about, but in subsequent trips, things look good for the fall.
