Grouse Dog
i was wondering if any one in here hunts ruffed grouse with a dog. If so which is better a pointer or retriever. the pointer to point and the retriever to flush and retrieve. Any help is appreciated.
thanks.

RE: Grouse Dog
Most of the best grouse dogs are English Setters. There are many strains that have been bred entirely for this purpose for literally hundreds of years. And some of the newer strains are even better than those.

RE: Grouse Dog
I've got a litter of pups coming in a week or so whose dam is from Grouse Ridge breeding and are sired by a son of 7xch I'm Dick Too. The daddy and mama are pure hell on grouse (and chukar and quail and pheasant and huns and sharptails, etc) and are among the classiest, easy training dogs you will ever come across. They retrieve naturally .
