Its funny, but sometimes when I am back home in Illinois hunting on my property, my car with its Ohio plates ends up parked next to my neighbor's truck with its "Ban out of state hunters" bumper sticker. I really miss the good old days.

What an incredibly hurtful thing to say.[] Just for that, instead of having my property unposted and open to local hunters for free, I'm gonna lease it to the evil outfitters for a dollar an acre. So, there!!!!

As an out of state hunter myself, I'm in NY, the deer are plentiful here, I have private ground to hunt on, I busted my but to get permission on them. One reason that most people go out of state to hunt is for a vacation to get away from life's stresses. We all love the outdoors too. Maybe it's to get game that your state dosen't have, such as elk or moose. I'm a die hard bowhunter, Illinois offers something that I cannot get in NY, a 12hr ride with your best friend on a hunting trip. I go to Illinois to get away and maybe get a buck of a lifetime, not saying that it can't happen here, but there is something magical about hunting in another state, you don't know what to expect when you get there. Sure outfitting can be a dirty buisness not anymore dirty than our goverment. We are not all dirty out of staters, we are just like you, blue collar, farm fed, and hard working people who choose to spend time in your state chasing what we all dream of. MAKING MEMORIES

One of the smartest things said here in a long time!
ORIGINAL: TROPHYHUNTER25

if you don't want outfitters to lease the land your hunting for free, then offer the farmer some money for a lease. why should the farmer pay his property taxes so you can hunt for free. they don't make land anymore so quit being cheap and help the farmer out and he will help you

Lanse couche couche was talking about bumper stickers and I was making a reference to the Calvin and Hobbs sticker where Calvin is urinating on a ford/dodge/chevy/whatever sign...thought it might be something the out of state haters could get for the vehicles. Didn't mean to insult anyone! [:-]

Well, (sniff, sniff) I guess that i understand.

Seriously, I can imagine a sticker like that coming out, if it already hasn't.

One of my father's neighbors in richland county has all sorts of big signs in his yard. There is OUTFITTERS with a circle and slash over the word as well as a big BAN OUT OF STATE HUNTERS sign as well. I think that there are t-shirts too with such things on them.

To me it isnt worth getting frustrated about. You cant blame the farmers for producing a better lifestyle for their families. Land is only worth what someone will pay for it, and lots of people are finding lots of ways to pay for lots of land. Its the nature of the beast.....
